Well, I finally got around to posting a picture of my first mini. I painted this guy last April, and I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome.
I put about 20 hours painting into him using layered blending and some ink washes/glazes. I avoided drybrushing him entirely, and all the small highlights were done with my prized Winsor & Newton Series 7 000 brush. One thing I did have problems with was brushmarks in the green layers. I picked up a filbert brush (round edged flat brush) and hope that might help. The loincloth came out quite well, especially since I was having some serious problems with it at first. I kept adding white to scab red to create highlights, but it just came out pink. Duh. Well, I hit it with a glaze/wash of red ink and Doc Faust's Wonder Solution and voila, one well blended loincloth. I didn't mess with the base as it's mounted on a MK legal Hierophant base which I cut the plastic Hierophant off and mounted this guy on. Otherwise I would've based him properly, so when judging, please don't take the base into account.
Well, guess that's about it. I'm always open to constructive criticism, so any tips and pointers are welcome.
