This was my Golden Demon entry this year. He took home the gold in Baltimore. Heavily converted from the special edition Ogre Tyrant from the boxed army. Green stuff kimono, new boots, new arms (twice, since I lost the first pair!), new weapon. The geisha Gnoblar was a fan favorite. A chinese dragon graces the back of his robe, each scale individually painted on a swirling cloud background, and trimmed with cherry blossoms on the bottom of the kimono and cuffs. There is a Koi pond, complete with Koi, and a large cherry blossom tree. All in all about 75 hours worth of work. I hope you enjoy him!

Thank you all for you wonderful comments. I wanted to take a moment to explain the creation of the tree. I made a wireform of the trunk, then filled around it with sculpey. Texture was applied with crunched tin foil and then the trunk was baked to hard finish. For the branches and leaves, I used dried Gypsophilia, first dying the flowers different shades of pink using inks and pigment, then painted the stems with inks to give the look of tree branches. The flowers were then bound together and glued into holes in the trunk and resined on. I hope that info helps! On another note, I have been asked several times for a price on this model, which I consider priceless to me as I don't believe I could ever reproduce this diorama. I have decided on $2000. I know that this is an exorbitant amount, but if anyone wants this model that badly, it is the figure I have decided upon.

I saw this in WHite Dwarf and thought it was so clever. I love the gnoblar geisha, but what reallygot me was the coy swimming in the pond...nice touch. All the details are perfect...wonderful job. | |
