Here is my contribution to the Works of Heart charity project to help the recovery after Hurricane Kartina.
This piece will be put up for auction and all proceeds donated. if you are interested please find details at http://www.worksofheart.moonfruit.com/
On this piece I challenged myself in a couple of ways, most notably with the freehand throughout, since I have actually done VERY little freehand in the past on miniatures (I have done it in 2d, such as bases, but not on a miniature). Even details such as the handle of the blade and knife are freehand straps.
The runes are tolkeens Tegwar and on front of the cloak spell "Katrina", on the back "for New Orleans" (although unreadable due to the folds) and on the banner it say "From the waters rises a new hope" (although also disrupted by the banner sculpt/patern)
The swords are also a new type of nmm for me, trying to really get that look of a shining blade. I'm quite happy with the result!
As for the base, since it it going up for auction I wanted to keep it on a game base, with just a little lift above the crowd in an army.
Thank you everyone!
-Eric

Queen of Credits 11-Apr-06 #174146 | | Rating: 10 As the collector who purchased this miniature from the Works of Heart charity auction last fall, .... which just the weekend (April 8, 2006) was duly crowned with a BRONZE Golden Demon trophy at the 2006 LA Games Day competition, ....I can certainly say that the pictures (as wonderful as they may be) do not do this miniature justice. It is just an awesome piece of art to hold in your hand and behold. This piece will soon be appearing on my online virtual museum on miniatures at www.queenofcredits.com, where you will be able to see more photos of it. Congrats, Eric, on a job welll done. --Kathryn |
