Hi all, this is my golden demon entry for uk 05, for the squad category, Marneus was painted firstly as a simple display piece, and i then decided to make him a squad for golden demon, although i like the honour guard models from games-workshop, they are a bit static for my liking, so using countless hours, green and brown stuff and lots of plastic and metal marine parts (mostly tactical and assault marine parts, but also the commander sprue) i made in my eyes a much more dynamic honour guard squad, the bright colourschemes were certainly not the best choice for uk gd but the important thing is i am pleased with them, overall approximate time spent in converting and painting is some hundreds, i really couldnt say. They made the cut but unfortunately didnt place in the top 3. Any constuctive critisism, comments, questions etc ask away and i'll be pleased to answer. Cheers, Joe

kowlown 26-Nov-05 #157451 | | Rating: 10 Well, marneus is worth a 15/10 10 isn't just enough!
The rest of the unit is just very good, but the masterpiece is marneus! - Michael |

Micha 20-Nov-05 #156815 | | Rating: 10 Fantastic job, the colors are very strong and the NMM looks very convincing, too. The guards you´ve converted are not as detailed as the original ones, but far more dynamic; |
Ritual 19-Nov-05 #156765 | | Rating: 9 This one is a bit tough to rate because I think the quality of the models differ quite a bit. Marneus is a 10, I'd say, whereas some of the other models I'd rate 8 if they were posted individually. Marneus is incredibly well painted with all the freehand and details. Some of the more simple marines look a bit too nondescript with large empty blue areas (which could have been highlighted a tad more IMO). Still, an impressive unit with lots of qualities. |
JRN 18-Nov-05 #156704 | | Rating: 9 Fantastic models and a very clean and thorough paintjob all the way.
However, I have a few minor things to criticize. First of all I think that the display base is too big. Focus is always on the models so if you enter a small squad, do a small base. Also the banner pole looks too thin and the little skull on the banner has somewhat weird-looking eyes (it looks sad). The painting of the bases (+ display base) seems a little too pale compared to the strong colours on the actual models. But overall a very nice and well-executed squad entry.

Yellow one 18-Nov-05 #156659 | | Rating: 9 Marneus is amazing, i love him in all, freehand on the cloack, gold, blending, face, all what i see. Flawless work. Other squad members not so brilliant, therefore whole squad is near to 9, 9.4 to my look. | |
