Ramos, Steampunk Sorcerer

Another Mini for Wyrd Games, sculpted by the ever talented Edgar Ramos (ergman).

You can see his green version

I figured my last paint job was 4 paint pots...why not go one fewer? This was painted with just Black, Skull White, and Enchanted Blue. The sculpt also seemed to call for a strong OSL effect, and I wanted to play around more with the water reflection effect, so with all those 3 things in mind...this is what I came up with.

The goal of the limited palate was to create a feeling of a very dark scene, so dark you pretty much can no longer diferentiate color, but then the only light source being a blue light, it becomes the only color you can see.

The base for this one is all freehand painting.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this one, comments and critique are always welcomed.

Wow. Stunning paint job. The object source lighting is fantastic, and the reflective water/mirror effect is amazing. Three pots of paint, and a masterwork is what you get. That is just fabulous.

You are a true artist. Your work with the shading and highlighting is out of this world. I realy can't imagine miniature painting getting any better than this. You inspire me to 'focus' on my own mini painting.

I hope you hate to paint GW minis, Cause I can't hope to top this Guy !! All us painters know what Quality looks like, not just traditional gaming styles. Look forward to seeing more Wyrd minis. Tim Holly

Too m,any positive comments here, lets get some constructive criticism going... I reckon the blending could be even smoother. If I look REALLY closely at it, there are a few rough transitions. However, I'm wondering if this is a bad thing or not, perhaps the slight roughness gives it character? maybe it just reflects real abruptness in the way the light falls? Also can we see a pic of the base on its own? It looks perfect, but I want to see it straight on and not at an angle. Finally, damn thats well painted!

Eric, you rule!

Only 3 colors! Insane! I love the effect that you got with this mini. The limited pallet works wonderfully on this. My only complaint is that I would like to see the freehand on the base a little better.
