Marcus Tempest - UltraMarines Terminator Chaplain

Slight conversion with custom base.

For those who have asked about the base:

The top bulk of the base is a fimo/sculptey mix, rolled out and cut out to the approximate size of the 54mm base. It was baked and later secured to a GW base with super glue. White Milliput was smooshed into the joins to create a smooth surface between the base and the top part. Then there was much sanding, cutting and swearing to get it right.
The lip edge and I- beam are from Plastruct and were glued to the top portion. Gaps here were filled with green stuff when the plastic edges were trimmed off
The rivets and one bolt were made from greenstuff.
The gears are from an Ikea alarm clock. Portions of two different gears were super glued to the base. Another teeny tiny piece was used as well but hardely shows up. The other four gears are freehand onto the base.

I guess the sword should automatically be handed to the person who is most active in forums and mini showcase websites. I don't feel anyone has been cheated at the competitions. I think the judges see something that they find particularly interesting or well-done, and award trophies based on these ideas. I don't know why the judges didn't pick this piece to win, but I am sure they have their reasons. But to accuse the judges of favortism is both ridiculous and childish, both of the artists in question are well known to the staff. As long as competitions are being held people will be unhappy with the results, I guess. I do like the mini, by the way. All of the detail work is excellent and color choices seem to fit the mini. Well-done.

A hard model to rate really, you did a god job with the conversion and accomplished a good base, and the painting is also on a very high lever; stil, the model is problematic - it´s too much, too many colors (blue, gold, purple, green..) and because of this the different elemts of the model somehow don´t want to fit. The gems are my favorite by the way.

I look forward to meeting you at the next GD! He's great! I know my chaplain won't turn out quite as good, but I hope it turns out very good! Good luck next year!

It's almost impossible for me to tell you what I think is the best part of this model. It has it all! Congratulations. It's something for us all to aspire to.

As cool as Chaplains look in the basic black, you have made a great argument for the chapter color being used. I love the vast attention to detail, and obviously thoughtful conversion work and color selection. Keep up the good work!
