I like the imagination... and reasonably neat job on the painting.
I'd suggest you want more contrast though.
Another lighter yellow in the flame motif for example. Lighter bits on that bone on his hat.
Contrast grabs the viewers attention.
Also...
Go for static grass on basing.
Most people go for the patchy ground look with earth ( PVA and sand painted ) and patches of grass.
Over the earth painted groundwork you need to do something like put down some mixed colour flock first. The static grass goes over that so it doesn't look dark..
I'm sorry for delay in answer. I don't use it for gaming purposes, because as for now I'm just painting and collecting minis. I hope some day I'll play with snotling army (I collected about 80 different snots and gonna start to paint them soon).
