First off, sorry for the grainy picture.

This miniature has had a slight conversion. The original model's hair is shaved butch and is really not flattering to the otherwise nice piece. The inspiration came from a Macross character, as you can see here: http://members.tripod.com/gmn_i/macross/dyson.htm It's been done purposely messy.

The model was a challenge... that is, a challenge in style selection.

The first big decision was how to do the saber. It could be done in a single color with a gloss varnish so it had a real light effect, for example. Ultimately, we did it gradiated from dark at the base to light at the tip for one main reason - no matter what angle the saber is seen from, it looks as though it's shining. Though a much better effect could be created if the model was to be viewed from only one direction, this seemed to round out the model.

This effect is rather subtle, however, and the rest of the model needed to be based around this. The color selection on the model is very limited, the highlights are very subdued and applied very accurately. The cleanliness of the model in a limited color range has done a lot to draw focus to the weapon.

The cloak, characteristic of the Jedi, has been done subtlely but is meant to stand out. As it's the only feature from the back, we've ensured that the color was very rich and vibrant.

Finally, the base was designed with an industrial or deck plate theme in mind. Originally I had intended for it to be painted with metallics but we felt that it would draw too much attention. Keeping with the theme of the model, it was done simply (though it does have a two layer highlight, visible only if you have darn nice eyes). The details are clear as day but the base doesn't draw your attention away from the model itself.

Very good, I have this by myself and I like it very much. Yours is painted in a good classical way! (I'm going to paint mine as Obiwan and Anakin, I converted them already, my Count Dooku is already finished) I like to see Star Wars minis here!!!

Nice, I wish more people would post these Star Wars figures. One change I think I would do would be a different color for the base, as the grey of clothing is too similar. Perhaps a dark orange "Bespin" feel or a white like Princess Leia's ship in the start of A New Hope. Great conversion work on the head.
