This is a detail composite of my Terminator
pic #138082
Silver winning entry in the 2006 Canadian Golden Demons.
This is the more battle-scarred twin brother of the Chaplain. The overall style was pulled from the ornate Space Marine armors and rich backgrounds shown in the various Space Marine related books, especially the Insignium Astartes.
For me this was a fairly ambitious conversion; The main figure is a close combat plastic terminator. These are very easy to chop up and reposition for conversion and added details. Other bits come from the Forgeworld line, Battle for McCragge, Tigurius, Inquistor, Grey Knights, etc. and of course....some greenstuff!
The smooth armor, robes and base style concentrated on allowing more freehand. I knew beforehand that he would be up against the amazing French contingent that visited Toronto this year, so he had to have LOTS of little doodles to even try and place. In the end maybe too too much.
Does the librarian have too much bling?
......
Well the size of the sword shows he is certainly compensating for something. :p

I play Ultramarines and i like the style you paint this figure. I dont think that he has to much bling. The shading- and wheathering effects are great. Your freehands are great and makes this figure so much wonderfull!
GREAT WORK!

shockfire 17-Jan-07 #211145 | | Rating: 10 Stunning! I can't tell from the photos, are the large chinks in the armor(battle damage) all painted on or are they actual cuts into the mini and then painted? the one on the wrist of his sword arm looks strictly painted on and due to it's size I think should have been actually cut into the plastic. I think this might have helped with the fact that they look a little too big to some because they don't seem to have quite the right dimension. but this could also be the lighting or the photo - hard to tell. Simply Magnificent!!! |

Silphid 10-Nov-06 #202544 | | Rating: 10 I agree with Brother Sinaer & david (two fo the French invitees at that GD), we all loved this piece. I can only imagine the amount of work that went into all the minute freehand, your hard work is fitting your talent! Don't want to rub it in but this is Sword level, as well as his brother, don't worry about actual rankings, this one is singed in many's memory, and a memorable mini is very hard to accomplish these days. This is also the model from america that caught the European's eyes the most this year from what I read, quite a feat! Your best work, here's to more! |
