This was a tricky one, a commission of which the base was sculpted out of miliput, and the guidelines were to make it look HOT, like tectonic plates floating on lava for the skin.
I'd never really done this so i didn't really know how to go about achieving this, i started with a white basecoat and worked up in layers, feathering colours backwards (darker colours on top of lighter colours rather than the other way round) not the easiest thing i'll tell you, for those who haven't tried it.
The colours i worked through were white, sunburst yellow, fiery orange, red gore and then chaos black.

I love how it looks like it's actually glowing! The only thing that lets it down for me is the ruddy sword - it looks so bland and out of place next to such awesome paint work! |

This is amazing. Not enough people make it look like molten metal, which it is made of. This fits the fluff and is very well painted. |

I like a lot of the lightbulb effect, but the metal parts in the hands aren't so good looking like the rest of the model. |

I like it, but it might be a bit too extremely bright. Obviously it was what you were going for. I'm glad you went from a white basecoat. The black basecoat cult is really strong now. |

definitely a 10. the one thing IMO that i'd change is the hair...dunno why...it just kinda looks like it doesnt fit in with the rest of the model. maybe if it had a more flamey/burning look to it, but that's just me. Top-notch work! do i smell a GD? |
