Anwyn by Reaper. This was my first miniature after discovering CMON and reading up on the techniques a lot of people use. Fer'instance this was the first model on which I layered watered down paint. Pretty significant jump in quality over my older stuff. Of course, comments are always welcome, I'm still uncovering a lot of the techniques many people take for granted. Also, bonus points to the first person who can spot what is missing in this photo.

Work on rounder pupils, he means I think. If you look at your own eyes our pupils take up much more room in the eye than the whites of the eye, so don't be afraid to fill in that space. also, to help define the edges of the eye, paint a darker flesh color over the whole socket before the white and that will outline the eye and make a nice shadow under the brow. On evil miniatures I usually go back with a thin line on top and bottom with the darker color to make them look more sunken and menacing. Slitted eyes even. The hair looks really good and the cloth. Try and limit your colors a bit as the red,green,yellow is a bit much IMO. Of course if she's a Bard or something that may explain the color choices. Other minor things, define each finger with a darker color (bestial brown?) in between them, there should be NO flesh there (unless she's got some mutant webbing or something LOL). Put a bit of black down in the holes in he pipe, it will really make it a bit more realistic. Try a wash, that'll get it in all the right spots! Her cheek seems to have bled a bit over into her hair on her left side and the line between her cute tummy and pants is a bit undefined. thin down some dark brown and let it run around her waist. That will create a shadow of the flesh tucked down in those tight pants. All in all a good example of why this website ROCKS! we can all learn from each other and make "cool minis"!!!! |

Some really nice work on this, one thing is horrible though, that base! I have to admit I hate basing miniatures, but at least touch up the bits where the metal/primer is showing through. Drybrush on some brown and grey onto that rock after touching it up and this will be way better. Some black/dark lining would be usefull in a fwe places, like between the fingers and where the flute touches her face. The clothing looks excellent as does the hair. | |
