When I first starting miniature painting and was trying to come up with an ID to join the forums, I finally settled on the name of the first character I ever purchased a miniature for - Wren the Bard. I didn't paint that miniature, a friend did, but it still seemed like an appropriate name. I've liked bards ever since then, so when this sculpt came out, it was a must-buy for me. I finished the paint job in late November 2006, but had been working on it on-and-off for a couple of months.

The femininity of the sculpt gave me the perfect opportunity to try out a pink and brown scheme, something I've admired occasionally in TV and movie costuming. I also used this figure to continue practicing more focused colour schemes with just a few main colours. The flowers on the base are a dried flower variety called mini-gyp. These ones came dyed pink, but I used some washes and drybrushing on them to really bring out the colour and tie it in with the pinks used to paint the figure.

The color scheme works very well with the sculpt. Excellent blending on especially with pink.
