HAA... time to deliver some texts, because I have not added it since one year or so... ...
First of all: Sorry for any bad feelings and sickness you might feel while looking at this Miniature... I know it is very disgusting, quite realistic and therefore can arouse personal memories... or something else... I donīt want to offend someone, it is not my personal kind of taste when it comes to miniatures... it was a commision, so I did the best /worst I could do...
The Great Unclean One was a Commision work for a collector from Austria... He already ordered 6 - 8 Chaos Cult Terminators (I cannot remember the exact number...) and he was the one who commisioned the three Chaos Beasts... So he has some kickass monsters from me for his Army, I guess......
I decided to paint something not usual this time... Nurgle is always ment to have a greenish skin, sick and rotten... I thought about my Version more like a former human, fat and bloated now, inflamed injuries rather then already fouled flesh...
It is interesting to read stories about Nurgle and the reason of people who are worshipping him... the reason is (as it is with the other chaotic powers...) human weakness... people are scared of Sickness, Decay and Pain... They start to pray to Nurgle instead of the Good Gods if they donīt see any possibility of getting better... Thatīs why I thought a more human vision would be very much better then the normal, greenish one...
I created the Blood effect using Gloss Vanish, Red and some Brown... I put a small amount on the spot I wanted it to be and then... I blew strongly against it... the liquid found itīs way, thatīs why it looks that way... Feel free ro try it out......

I think this is the grossest thing I've ever seen painted. It's the exposed spine that's always got me about this piece, and you made that part especially disgusting. Great job. I think the base Nurgle color green would have made it not quite as disturbing, so good job going with the flesh tones. |
