Hello, this guy was a lot of fun to work on I've loved the look of Marine shotguns for the longest time and when I had a chance to do up a model for a regional qualifier for GD Canada this year I jumped at the chance. My initial entry (Imperial Fist Librarian) was frustrating me to no end so I picked something that would be a lot more fun to work on. Hopefully he'll make it to the Demons, I'd be curious to see how he fares.
I picked the Blood Ravens because I couldn't find another color scheme that would work around the color I came up with for the fatigues. The fact that it would probably annoy the heck out of Robin (emopainterguy) was only a bonus.
I hope you like him, C&C is welcome since I tried out a lot of new things on him I usually don't do this kind of detailed freehand (I hate it! I hate it! I hate it! I have no patience for freehand). The paint chips hopefully turned out okay, they're based on Cyril's technique. I'm pretty happy, especially for a first try.
Rating: - Just a quick note: the guy got 3rd in the Canadian Games Day this spring. Lost out to the Slayer Sword winner by Vincent Hudon and a great librarian by Mathieu Fontaine. I can't argue
Rating: 9 The way you've used faithfully military 'drab' colours but painted them in a way that really pops is superb! The battle damage is also a really nice touch that adds a lot.
Rating: 8 Very cleanly painted. My only point of critique (not really) would be that you might have used some more contrast (especially on his face). Haha, he looks like an older version of Captain Carrot of Ankh Morpork's city watch!
Rating: 8 Very nice. Crisp and clean. My only suggestion would be to change the colour of his fatigues and chenge it to bone to keep it true to the Blood Ravens colour scheme.
