I painted this mini as a sorceress-elf for my D&D game, which is why she does not have an elaborate base. She's the 6th mini I have painted thus far. I have painted a total of 10 or 15 minis, all of them from Reaper and all of them for tabletop use. I have been encouraged to show them on CMoN and see what happens.
Rating: 6 My initial reaction to the picture was for the one on the left: just tabletop, kept within the lines but nothing special and not much shading. Then as I scrolled down I saw the picture on the right and went "holy crap".
I can't leave this as "just tabletop" with that great freehand. Yes, work on the technical aspects and everything will get better, but you show real promise in freehand so don't forget to practice that too.
Rating: 7 This miniature looks like you didn't do any highlighting. The colors are very flat. Personally, I place a lot of importance on smooth transitions between the colors of the shadows and the highlight colors. Ordinarily I would give a 5 to a miniature that wasn't highlighted, but your free hand work on the back is so awesome that I'm giving it a 7. A clearer picture would help your score too.
Rating: 6 The cloak is really stunning. I love what you have done with the leaves. But you should definitely do something about the hair. It needs more highlighting.
Rating: 5 (5.5) The freehand on the cloak is cool but the mini really needs more shading and highlighting to get more than a tabletop score. But you did say it's for gaming, so
