Mainly painted to experiment with purple shading red (rather than my usual browns) and to try and improve my silver metallics technique.
I went for a softer highlighting approach than usual, since it's not something I've got a great deal of experience in (most previous work being sharp contrasting line/edge highlights) and it's something I need to work on for the future.
With basing being one of the major detracting points from my previous stuff (golden daemon entries especially), I put a lot of work into getting this one part of the scene, as opposed to just tacked on at the last minute and given a quick drybrush. Hopefully the work shows.
All in all, fairly pleased with the outcome. Plenty of room for improvement yet, but I'll get to where i want to be eventually :p

hubbabubba 31-Jan-08 #249152 | | Rating: 8 I think the base is absolutley fantastic, but I find the mini itself to be too busy, perhaps its the overall similarity of the tones in all the colours which does this, greater contrast would separate the different areas of the mini more. Still, great technique, I think you achieved what you were after with the highlighting. |
