"Here she was. Back on the beach of the Empire which had expelled her so many years ago. But she had found a way to return. And the once so proud imperial Serenita - now only wreckage in the sands - was just the first step of her revenge. Her crew followed her, wherever she would go. They all had their own reasons to do so. As little Maria Dolores did, who had followed her to the beach. And the treasures, they would find were only part of a bigger reward, waiting for them."
This is the Freebooter 5th anniversary pirate diorama. I do love Werner's minis at the moment - I think it is the large eyes and stylised faces. I just haven't painted enough of them! This was the first time I painted eyes from a Marike tutorial... was better on the little girl rather than the captain, but thems the breaks
I wanted to show a real difference in lifestyle between the captain and her powder monkey, so I tried to paint them with contrasting clothing - all colourful and luxuriant for the Cap'n and drab for Maria.
I entered this mini into the painting competition at Salute 2008 and managed to win first place int he fantasy/sci-fi open category WOOT!
Cheers guys
