Blood Moon Miniatures runs a contest a few times a year for paint jobs on their miniatures. I had purchased this figure a while back, and painted her up and enter one of the contests. My husband reads the Red Sonja comic and I often help him pick which of the cover options to get, and this figure really reminded me of some of the cover art, so I decided to try to paint her in line with some of my favourite covers. I didn't really get the colour I was aiming for on the boots and gloves, but overall I think she reflects her source inspiration pretty well. The makers of Blood Moon seem to like her, and I'm honoured that they awarded her first place.

you've taken an ugly mini and made it look wonderful...i hated this mini when i saw the green, but now i really wanna paint one...

Hey I wanted to paint Red Sonja like that, lol. Seems that I'm too late, so I have to consider about another colour scheme for that Lady. Anyway great job!!! Excellent skintones, sword, hair... everything. Only thing I would change would be the colour of the gloves and the boots, I think it is a little bit close to the skintones but that's really the only little thing. |

A well deserved win - she is gorgeous! This is one of my favorite miniatures, and I have painted her twice - so I know how hard it had to be to get they eyes done like you did. The sword has to be one of the best examples of NMM I have seen. Barbaric Splendor!!! |
