I've always liked the looks of this figure, the slouched casual look as he saunters forwards, and I thought the long coat would provide a good opportunity to try some textured leather effects.
The base is made in only 2 major pieces, hard plaster for the paving and cork tile for the textured tarmac. The newspaper was made from aluminium foil with the front taken from an image of a period newspaper I tracked down using Google. I've done a small article on the newspaper for "The Basement Webzine" but it won't be up yet. Still, it's worth checking some of the other items there http://www.tbfm.co.uk/
I'd also like to thank Adrian Bay for lending me a book on WW2 German uniforms, and all those that gave me some feedback during the work in progress.
Hopefully by the time this is active I will have done a post on the forums with links to the WiP pictures and a larger image so you can see all the brush marks
Rating: - Thanks for all the comments guys. I can certainly admit that the face did cause me some issues and I may tweak it after Salute if I can get some good feedback.
Rating: 9 I really like the atmosphere and colours. The painting overall is good as well. I have to echo the comment about the face though, I'm not very fond of it either. I can trace some things to the sculpt though and maybe it looks better IRL. Not a full 9 for me because of that. Sven
