The style inspiration for this squad came from the miniatures and artwork of John Blanche. The inquisitor design was influenced by the Natalie Portman in 'V for Vendetta' and by the 'Sorcha' miniature by Privateer Press. Her torso comes from an imperial assasin, everything else is an original sculpture.
The bases were an interesting challenge. They are individually cast from clear resin. Each has pieces of a painted zombie miniature inbedded under the surface to create the impression of corpses frozen beneath the ice.
This squad won gold in the 40k Squad category at the Australian Golden Demon painting competition in 2006.

Gearhead 18-Mar-09 #287468 | | Rating: 10 jamemurp, it's based on Sorcha, but not actually made from her. I would've gone to my grave swearing that it WAS a Sorscha model if she hadn't said that it was hand-sculpted around an assassin's torso! |

Jamemurp: haha! I've not yet been disqualified for a pose. There are no PP parts in this squad, its all 100% GW or scratch. As far as I know no company has so far managed copyright a pose. |
jamemurp 16-Mar-09 #287290 | | Rating: 10 Great job. However, I am amazed that they placed it given that the Sorscha pose is so recognizable as a PP model! The freehand work is top notch. |
RAFF 15-Mar-09 #287170 | | Rating: 9 great colours! amazing freehands! really fan as always... |
s4mmy d. 13-Mar-09 #287029 | | Rating: 10 i remember that you entered these as a warhammer 40,000 squad at an australian golden demon about two or three years ago and won...why would you want to sell them now? anyway, they are absolutely, simply the best! |
mickc22 13-Mar-09 #287022 | | Rating: 9 'bout time you posted stuff on here again like the idea of the bases |
laurence 13-Mar-09 #286961 | | Rating: 10 By any standards these guys look AWESOME!! |
Micha 10-Mar-09 #286686 | | Rating: 10 Beautiful painting on those, the red armor and the glowing texts inside look wonderful. I also really like the individual banners, especially the one reading 'ordo'. The conversion on the inquisitor is very good, I had difficulties recognizing the original model. The icy bases are a great idea of course | |
