There has to be something seriously wrong in my head….i never seem to be satisfied…
Convertersmania, perhaps?
Let us take an example:
GW´s Plastic Chaos Knights /Chaos Warriors
Once upon a time, there were those ungainly, crude minis with hunchbacks and rather impractical weapons: plastic Chaos Warriors.
But, being plasic, they represented good material for converting. (I never did use one as a model, I always cut them up and used body parts…like…Dr. Frankenstein)
Then Brian Nelson created those lovely (metal) Chaos Knights, which looked gorgeous, but being metal and quite difficult to rework, my converter´s heart was not won.
Some time later, a new plastic Chaos Warriors box was launched, and, boy, they really looked good, all those characteristics I liked were there, BUT.
But they somehow decided that the minis bodies should be done in one piece!
No poseable Torsos here, no interchangeable legs, even the upper arms were fixed!
But, the Helmets, the weapons, the shields, just lovely, I had to buy them (and I have yet to build a single one of them out-of-the-box).
NOW: Plastic Chaos Knights, all of ´em highly converter-friendly, as well as a REALLY
useful Marauders frame (just for the accessoires, a must-have!!!), you would think it is at last a reason to be absolutely content…
Nope, the inner voice in me had to make me take the new frame(s) and, guess what:
Make infantrists out of them!!
And this although I spent months, even years searching for cool horse-minis to use as chaos steeds:
Now that I have those cool destriers I have not used any of them to date…
Convertomania. Never content…
It is a sad tale, I am sure you agree…
For this one, I had to sculpt a new set of legs, but didn´t do anything too fancy with the rest of the mini apart from using parts of different plastic chaos frames.
The rationale behind this guy being a standard bearer of a chaos force that tends to be an equivalent to WH40k´s Word Bearers;
Religious fanatics, adoring chaos undivided, loving the clerical look complete with scrolls,
maces, censers, more scrolls, braziers, the lot…but spikes and horns as well.
Currently I work on many models at once, but one will represent a priest/apostle/prohet, borne on a palanquin shaped as a chaos icon, we´ll see…
Hope you like it, let me know if you want to contribute ideas, criticism etc.!
Thanks for watching, Happy painting!
