Salamander Captain - GD entry, Los Angeles 2003

Hi folks, this was actually the Gamesday entry I had the most hope riding on. He did do fairly well for my "first time" - he was one of the 7 mini's that were on the table when they picked out 1, 2 and 3 place. But I think the base was "too much" and I don't think I'll do something like that again. He did seem to get lots of attention from the public browsers, which was kinda neat The flame idea has been done before by Matt Verzanni and Victoria Lamb - that's where I got the idea, to give credit where it belongs. I think if I had the guts to use lightsourcing on it, he would have done better - but Im still shy of that technique.

I really loved this miniature at Games Day. I really thought it would place in the top 3.

Stunning work, very inspirational. The funny thing is, I started working on something very similar for GD Germany about 2 weeks ago Once again great work.

Others might have tried the fire thing before, but this is your work and it looks amazing! I'm not really a fan of green armour but the blending's quite nice, and I think the gold parts on the gun are awesome.

An eccelent mini indeed, I like the way you used the dark elf cloaks - great fire effect as well; yu´re right, the base is too big, a smpler one would have helped; I´m glad you used metallics, it shows those still have a future (that doesn´t mean I dislike NMM)

A very nice Mini in think. only the head could use a littlebit more highlithing its too dark for the rest of the figure but this is a question of personal flavor. The paintjob itself is fantastic.

Those flames are extraordinary, the sculpting and painting of them is the best I've seen thus far. I quite like the base also... the judging process is so subjective, placing or not could come down to the judge not liking your name... (not that there's anything wrong with your name )

Fabulous work, the best "real flames" I have seen, I like the base, I like the whole thing, excellent overall.

Very, very good. He looked very naturel, good metal parts and smooth lightning. And the flames are amaizing. I like the Base.
