Well, I wanted to paint some difficult banners - and here's my try: the two landscapes painted on the standard are freehand paintings. I chose them because the mini itself reminds me of Japanese style. The wraithbone on the base was sculpted by me. Also: another attempt at NMM. Hope you like this one, and any comments are of course welcome!

I think you'd find that if you used more extreme highlighting and shading for the nmm you'd have a better result.
You are a freehand master, however the banner does not really fit with the rest of the model. |

The painitng on the mini itself is superb, but I can't help feeling the banner lets it down. The eldar warrior has a sharp contrast which I love, but the banner artwork looks a little flat. Good work though. |

i'm not sure how the nmm turned out-- it looks more grey than metal, but i think i like that. shading looks a bit cartoony, like the miniature was drawn with colored pencils, but once again, it turns out that i like that. base is perfect-- it's interesting, but doesn't upstage the model in the least. i find myself wondering how the banner is attached to the pole, how it manages to stick out perfectly straight.... if i could do anything a tenth as well as you, i'd go ahead and make a more interestingly shaped banner, but bend it around a bit, as if it were waving in the wind. real downpoint to this model is the crest, which appears to be made of metal and painted, then weathered.... the multiple colors on the crest really do nothing for the model anyhow. |

Nice work Mahon the only bit that really puts me off is the colour of the banner between the two pictures on the top picture it looks almost black and white but on the lower (left side) it is in colour! |

Wow! I mean WOW! The banner is a masterpiece itself! The only thing that could have been done better is plume - i think it would look better with much smoother blending. But it`s AWESOME work anyway. Oby tak dalej Mahon  ! |

The banner's a masterwork on its own. Has an almost translucent look to it, like silk. |

I really like what you've done here ... the color scheme is very realistic and the painting on the banners is outstanding. You seem to have a real knack for the freehand ... please keep it up!!! |
