My empire army is themed around various historical and quasi historical fanatical groups / conspiracy theorys; including Templars, the Illuminati, Masons, Jesuits, etc.

for my Grand Theoginist, I based the project on Peter the Hermit, a monk who lead c.10,000 civillians to their death outside Istanbul, trying to get to the first crusade.

The figure is a Frateris Militia, with a shepard's crook added. the extant rosary was a great bonus, and I really like the idea of him him raising morale and helping rallying through fear and whacking his flock with a stick.

imho this is your best piece here at cmon (up yet)! i'd rate it a seven for the conversion and the paintjob, but i'll give you an extra point for creativity and background!

Great concept and nice execution, and I really like the blending on the horses' barding. Some little things though - I don't like that skeleton, it looks too flat against the crucifix, and could use more shading I feel. Also, the shepherd's crook looks like it was left with the primer. Also, the Christian style crosses on the horses seem out of place if you're using it in whfb.

7 for the painting, 9 for the background. I like it AND I do NOT care if this is historically correct, well done...

At the time of crossing Hungary, Peter's army was 20,000. By the time they traversed the Bogazaci, it was 25k. The force that left from Civetot, and walked into the Selcuk ambush @ Nicea was c.19k (this takes into account the losses @ Xerigordon), and most sources agree that only a few thousand escaped the slaughter. This puts c.10,000 as about the lowest possible deathtoll. Most sources credit Peter with the loss of all 25,000. And yes, apocryphal tradition makes note of his ass, to which he bore a striking phisical resemblence.

Not that many people were killed in the peasant's crusade... that's a huuuuuge exaggeration. And didn't Peter the Hermit ride a donkey?
