My third completed miniature. I do feel I see some improvement in my shading and layering technique on this one. I decided not to use any washes, which turned out to be a good idea as there were pits and bumps on the figure, particularly on his sword side.
The highlights are a bit brighter than they appear in the photograph. The part I like the best is the quiver, and the shading on the shield. I don't think the copper chainmail turned out very well, and my first attempt at freehand on the shield there is pretty pitiful. The base is just a scatter of tea leaves.
I don't know anything about the figure other than it's between 10-20 years old, and it's marked D1 on the bottom. Please let me know if you know the manufacturer or model on this one!

Like the snotling, I think the highlights should be yellow-green. There is something chunky about the paint job; it may be the camera, or it could be that you're using bad paints/primer, or you're not shaking/mixing the paint/primer enough, or that you're not thinning your paints. I'm not sure which. |

KatieG 21-Sep-03 #54385 | | Rating: 6 I hope you won't take this the wrong way, but I would suggest you try some newer models... the older models don't have the sculpting to really make your work shine... Believe me, I am nostalgic for the older models myself, but I found my technique improving by leaps and bounds when I tried newer ones because there was lots more there to begin with... | |
