Well, I know that many people don't like this new miniature for Confrontation, so here are few words what made me paint it.
I liked the sketch, very much, when I saw it for the first time. You can see it here. Then, after one week I saw the miniature and I was surprised. What the hell they did with it? Why they ruined it so much? OK, I started to feel like if I can do better than them, just by paintjob. So I ordered one.
First I started with lowering it's head, to the pose it would look like he is just reading the scroll, or preparing for new glyph to write. Than I thought about how to paint him. And I decided for him to look like old insane shaman. So I did his hair almost white. Other colors are mainly selected from natural colors, so he fits into "barbarian feel" of Keltoi. The base I did in the same style as for Tanath.

Honza, You astound me. Not only did you write a great explanation, I checked out both extra links, and I must say my rating is on two things: an exquisite paint job, and your ability to take an otherwise pathetic attempt to capture a cool drawing in miniature and restore it to glory through excellent conversion work. Well Done!  |

Why it is at eight, frankly people have become too cynical and cannot see good work when they see it. Now I did like it myself and will probably paint it in the near future |

great mini, great paintjob - I especially like the bottle. And, yes - they screwed the mini - the sketch is far better than their sculpt. |
