My entry for the GW locals.I got this before I knew there was a big thing going on with the Storm of Chaos so I reckon it wont be the only Archaon in the comp.I decided to go with a dirty steel armour look using a boltgun base,highlighted then washed with black,brown,green and blue.The sword is done so it looks as if its burning.The horse is a dark,dirty palamino.I know it should be black but personally I think it makes it look more possessed.Kittykat32uk's fluffy wolfen article provided the technique for the horses coat (thanks).I wanted to remove the spikes on the base but thought I better leave them for the comp.Ill let you know how he fares.Klute.

WOW! This is my favorite of your work. It deserves MUCH more than 8.2 I am not at all suprised you won the painting comp. The colour of the horse is great as is the texture. The metalics, the branding the lava style base. All faultless. Congratulations on a superb mini. :o) |

Of course you won, this is plain amazing, man  The thing I like the most is the horse, I mean, how different it is from Archaon's classic black horse, you sure had a neat and original idea Everything else is also perfect, of course, and even if that's "just" the standard base it looks soooo god, with that lava... bravo! |

I don't know what to say, Mark. That is a belter of a piece. My only reservation is the base. But seeing that this is going into a "Local" I think you'll 'burn off' the opposition. It's one of those mini's I'd really like to see in real life. |

Love the horse. The dirty palomino sets it apart from the Archaon on black horse and is very eyecatching. The lava on the base looks good, as does the blood around the eight pointes chaos thingy. Only query is whether the base is finished. It looks like the basestops at the edges of the metal plate, and nothing has been done from that point. | |
