My first commission piece for Games Workshop's Fanatic studio, this Spyrer Patriarch has been in White Dwarf and Fanatic Mag issue 2!! YAY! Was interesting to paint a 'resin' original rather than a metal master, but it did mean i was much more restricted with bending the mechadendrites (doc-octopus tentacle things) on his hunting rig.
It was a black and gold brief, and i think it complements the model well! It was also the first time I have thought a little more about colour theory and added green to the flesh tones in an attempt to make a more natural colour... I was pleased with it! Comments are more than welcome! Thanks all!

PF11 01-Jul-04 #91913 | | Rating: 9 Kinda mix between Doctor Octopus and GW style:I like it! A shame you didn't paint it in orange and green! |
DarkStar 01-Jul-04 #91902 | | Rating: 7 Yes, if you break down the skin tones of the caucasian race, you will find subtle amounts of greens in the mix of reds whites yellows and browns. Here's a tip, use a blueish grey to mix into teh highlights of your fleshtones instead of pale flesh, or white, and you'll achieve a similar effect. Color theory is fun...what line is this mini from? I know it's from Fanatic, but what game? Bloodbowl? Ahhh..Inquisitor right? Perfect timing what with Spiderman2 coming out. You are a great painter keep it up. | |
