MarkusTay 19-Mar-05 #126900 | | Rating: 7 Yup, Grenadier, Jabba's Palace was the set name. Still got it in the box. Nice paint job, Jabba himself is done very well. Where'd you get your hands on models that are probably as old as you, Becca? |
PF11 17-Mar-05 #126645 | | Rating: 7 We definitly need a "humor" category so we (I!) can see again and again our favorite funny minis...or to discover them if we're late. The dancer was a nice mini and yes Grenadier was the manufacturer. This set was probably the best. |
DM of Doom 08-Oct-04 #105020 | | Rating: 9 Actually, I believe they are Grenadiers, made back in the days of d6 SWRPG. And I agree that we deserve a better view of the dancer... |

Avicenna 24-Aug-04 #99070 | | Rating: 7 I rather like that! The paint-job is great and jabba looks especially cool. I think the one thing that lets it down are the bases or the minis, I think they need to be sunk into the display base or something like that... but I still think its very cool! |
Fizl 15-Aug-04 #97861 | | Rating: 6 I agree with NSA about the diorama and the bases. The paintwork looks good, but I need a closer view of them to see it properly. Shaz |
evil tendencies 30-Jul-04 #95868 | | Rating: 7 Hillarious! I really like the blending on Jabba's belly. If you rotated the base about 10 degrees, though, we could see all of the figures - I'd love to see the Boba Fett better (mostly 'cause the only one I have is a different pose). |
Dr. Bob 24-Jul-04 #95036 | | Rating: 7 Very funny! More views would be nice, particularly of the dancer and Boba! |
Casus Belli 19-Jul-04 #94201 | | Rating: 7 AHAHHAHAHAHHAHHA I love this to bits!
7 for the paint job
10 for the humour |
No Such Agency 07-Jul-04 #92777 | | Rating: 6 1) As a "diorama" the characters' bases should be more integrated into the ground, but it's an interesting scene. If you ever redo this, you could do a tile floor (maybe Hirst Arts), and have some of the tiles come out as the bases. It's a popular technique for dioramas because it *works really well*. You would have to remove the molded-on bases but a careful hand and a Dremel could do it without having to repaint all the minis. 2) The Jabba sculpt seems quite small, perhaps you could have added a second dais layer to elevate him a bit to disguise that. His face should _at least_ be level with the tallest of the humanoids. 3) Jabba's palace seems awfully featureless and well-lit. This would do great as a "shadowbox" scene, with some simple architecture in the background (Hirst Arts, or even just painted foamcore) to hint at a larger environment around the figures. 4) Frankly, I envy your collection of SW minis... I mean, you have Fett? Grrr. |
