This was my contribution to the paint aid charity project here on cmon. If you don't know about this project please look here for more information.

http://paintaid.moonfruit.com/

I was assigned the ogre tyrant for the project and definately gave it my all, I think technically by far my best work to date. We were given a number of guidelines, that we should use metallics (not nmm, which was hard for me!), that the bases should be relatively simple and uniform with each other, and some of the color scheme as well so that the army would look as coherent as possible. The project leaders had also decided what the army list should look like, so when I took it on the wargear for this fellow had already been decided and I tried my best to match as close as I possibly could to the description. Here is how he is on the army list:

335 Pts. (1) Tyrant w/ Brace of handguns, 2 Sword Gnoblars, Luck Gnoblar, Heavy Armour, Thunder mace (AKA BFH), Spangleshard, Beast killer

And as you'll see I had ended up doing quite a bit of converting/sculpting to fit this all onto him, I added the unpainted photo to give a better idea. The hammer was made to match the image in the codex as closely at possible, except I wanted to add a great maw somewhere on this guy, and the head of the hammer was litterally the biggest flat area on the model, and it seemed appropriate there. The beastkiller trophies were inspired by the codex cover of course. Spangleshard was tough, as the description was rather vague, but what I got was that it was a broken/dirty gem from an elven artifact, and this is what I came up with. I had to repossition his arms and extend the weapon and arms some in order to fit it over the gut-plate that had the brace of handguns. The luck gnoblar is taken from the standard tyrant, cut off that arm, made to fit here and put on the other shoulder. He does actually have 2 sword gnoblars, the 2nd is just in the back, you can see a little bit of him peeking around the ankle.

I hope you like him, and spread the word about paint aid, it is a great cause!

Thank you,

-Eric

First, i have to say that I fing ogres exceptionally ugly, but this one is more then just an ogre, itīs a mastepiece, I really like the colors you used, they all make perfect sense, the metallics are great (and very diverse!) and of course thank you for your elaborate and informative description!
