An early attempt of mine at "real" painting, done about six months ago.The magical effect is supposed to be shiney, but the silver spot is a reflection of the overhead light. I must of taken fifty pics, and this unfortunately was the best of them (I gotta read the instructions to my camera again, I don't know how to play with the Macro settings). I've lost most of the highlights on the bronze parts, and the red looks washed out as well. This is the only mini I've done in the last year that I didn't bother to base, because there is almost no base showing. I'm thinking about maybe painting some swirls in the purple, but for now it's good enough for gaming.

It's a translucent coating that gives a finish an oyster-shell glimmer. It looks much cooler in person, it changes hues as you turn it. Thanks for the input guys, my next piece will be well based! |

But (you knew that there would be a but)...a larger pic would help us see and judge the mini better. My experience so far is that it is better to paint the highlights to make it look glossy on a dulcoated mini than to actually leave it glossy. And finally, no base work ususally results in the loss of about a full point around here. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
