Okay, write this stuff al over again...
This is the first historical miniature i have painted. He is the main character from a bunch of popular Spanish books.
I painted this guy for my girlfriend who is a big fan. He is being played by Vigo Mortenson (another guy my GF is a big fan of, grr) in the upcoming film, so if you've never heard of him see the film.
He was supposed to have been in the Spanish army, fighting in Flanders to protect Spanish territorial interests, they had an empire before England had theres. The banner is his company is painted on the tiles above his head.
As this is a 54mm model and has loads of flat area i had to do more blending than i've ever done before and i hope its getting better. There are some imperfections but you can't really see them here.
This overal quality of the model was very good. There were a few problem parts from the mold wearing, like in the split of the sleeve, a craft knife sorted that out. Most of the parts went together very well also, there are some gaps though, also not very visable.
I'll be entering this guy in Salute's painting competition this year too.
