I'm very surprised at the results of what was basically very simple steps. I started out with spray painted black primer. Then I added in a semi-dry-brush style some scab red. After that dried I applied some red ink. It's the red ink that gives it the gloss, I didn't use any gloss paints in the process. After this was done I put in the details and some minor highlights with some blood red with some blendings of the scab red. There is skull white on the eyes, but the rest of the white is actually an egg shell white called "bleached bone."
I was thinking of doing more with the bases but decided that red dragons running thgough grass fields was probably not right. Black lava stone seemed the best color when all was said and done for a typical red dragon's lair.

You really have to work on those eyes... The color might be your choice, I would personally prefer an orange shaded to yellow, but more important is that you let a fine line of black between the red skin and the eye itself, so it looks like the eye lies a little deeper in the head. Other than that, they're quite cute, even though they could use some more highlighting. Good job! | |
