Queen of the Clones

Queen of the Clones

This was originally Virae, Queen of the Fiannas, but I wanted to do something special with her. So I filed off most of the detail and resculpted the leg armor on both legs, the chest and back armor, the shoulder plates and top of her arms (which are from sin assyris) and her entire head other than the topknot- plus the vials on her back blades. Painting her was a lot of fun, I feel like I made some nice strides with my NMM. She was lucky enough to place 3rd in a very tough single figure category at GenCon 2005.

Smooth blending work! On the Electric Ocean pictures it lack some definition which I guess is due to more "ambient" lighting. Be sure to really work your shading. (sometimes it comes from painting under too harsh lighting which gives natural shadows... it did for me so always compare to other lighting conditions) Other then that excellent.

Most of the white paints designed for miniature applications are not pure white. Acrylic artist color that comes in a tube such as Liquitex with the name Titanium White provides a brighter contrast.

*Seiya: grrrrr! What a stupid thing to say! If you know how to do it probably it is possibly to make pure white on a mini! Just look at Arkaal stuff for an example! Molebrain: This is just amazing! The conversion is superb - it is always nice to see that the Rackham models can be converted also. The colorscheme is also great! I really love the green! The nmm is amazing and the most striking part on the mini in my opionion.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I spent a lot of time on this one making it special for GenCon, it's good to see that it was time well spent. Seiya, the only thing done to these pics was auto levels and contrast. It was on display for everyone to see at GenCon and there are plenty of other photos out there not taken by me as part of the official coverage.

incredible painjob.. but incredible using of photoshop too.. if tose blades are not retouching with photoshop, shou sould do 2 things: firstly made a tutorial of how to being the best nmm painter of teh world ,and secondly. teach official racham painters how to paint.. this pure withe doesn't exist in acrylics.
