A GW Kroxigor (5th edition). I love the model, which is so much better than the 6th edition lizardmen, IMO. The more reality-inspired reptilian features are wonderfully implacable and distant, whereas the new ones look like somewhat wobbly Chaos Somethings. The krox's skin is three layers of drybrushing, mixing in various quanties of Titan Buff over a Hunter Green base colour, with a last level of highlighting painted on.

I use Golden Acrylics Fluids, incidentally, http://www.goldenpaints.com/fluid.htm. I haven't used citadel paints (apart from a few metallics) much to compare, but they come in 1oz bottles that have a one-drop dispenser, which is really useful for reconstituting colours from a recipe. They get quite shiny when thinned, but this goes away with a dusting of matte sealer.

The wooden handle is bright yellow with a wash of reddish brown, which is a simple technique that gives pleasing results. I like the "coral" bracelets, although the transition to the white highlight is too sudden. Next time I'd reverse the shading to paint them as if they were purple gem. My wife dislikes the "pink", but according to my new colour wheel it's forms a triad with the green and the reddish-orange, and I think the overall effect is good.

I'm happy enough with the simple job on the axe blade, which was based-coated a black/dark purple mix, and then drybrushed Citadel chainmail. I can't quite convince myself to try non-metallic metal yet - I think I'm still holding on to the "realistic" look, since NMM can look rather cartoony to me (though not always).

Although I'm very pleased with the miniature for gaming, under the harsh scrutiny of a close-up photograph under bright lights, there are a lot of things I'd do differently next time. For one thing, drybrushing looks very dusty. I've since purchased some acrylic medium to help out with blending.

I think I was a bit indimidated by the large all-green surface area, as in the past I've relied quite a lot on the scuplting to drive colour changes. I'd bring more colour variation in if I did it again (perhaps a pinkish hue around the softer areas).

To top it off, I used the wrong sealer, PLAID matte sealer for crafts, which is still a bit shiny (I have a can of Krylon matte that does a much better job), and ruins the rocks (these are made of epoxy putty, painted raw umber and drybrushed up a bit), which I'm otherwise very happy with. The base was painted "green gold" before I glued on green/brown static grass.

Looks good! The colour scheme is unusual, but works well. I particularly like how the handle came out.
