The first camera I used for miniature photography didn't have a white balance setting so I thought I'd experiment to see how different backgrounds affect the outcome of the photo I used 2x 50W white halogen lamps (£10 each from Homebase (UK)) and a selection of coloured backgrounds. I have a 3.2MP Olympus and applied auto colour balance using GIMP www.gimp.org From left to right the backgrounds are: 1st row: White Grey Grey with a black and white colour reference 2nd row: Blue marbled card Grey marbled card Blue I'm amazed at the difference this makes. I hope this is of some use to you folks!

Gi6ers 30 August 07		@Jericho, yes it was, I've bought a new camera since but if you've got a camera without white balance setting this should help..I think using a black and white colour ref in the pic will also help you get the balance right in your photo editing software. As mentioned I only did auto balance with these.
