Very cool stuff ... just remember to always work light to dark ... the paper is your white so you have to plan stuff out and be super careful or use some masking fluid to keep portions of the paper...
I hope I speak for the over-40 crowd who saw Star Wars when it first came out ... I can't imagine the mouse could do anything much worse to the franchise than Lucas did w/ the most recent set of...
I did a bunch of stuff like that for my last D&D game ... yeah, right!! :)
jim
You have to enjoy the process ... for me, when I walk into my painting room, it's a release from all the other pressures in my life. Don't let painting become another one of those things you dread or...
I just downloaded the issue and there is a LOT of good stuff in there ... I would highly recommend folks take a look.

I've never had any problems with the cmon shop. Refunds, replacement parts for something broken ... they've always been awesome.

Could someone take a look at the top last 7 days? It appears something has gone very wrong ... several pieces seem to have received an unbelievable number of 10 votes.
I use a Canon 7D w/ a Canon 100 mm macro lens and a Manfrotto 055MF3 tripod w/ a 322RC2 "joystick" ball head ... the 322RC2 definitely makes it very easy to compose shots because it's so easy to...
Thanks for taking the time to post all of these wonderful pics ... too bad I'm thousands of miles away in what seems to be a painting desert with no shows (much less w/ quality workmanship like that)...
I agree w/ what freak said completely ... you've really got to "pump up the volume" on contrast for minis to pop ... if you think about it, you've got all these tiny little edges that somehow have to...
I've noticed that several of my pictures that were uploaded to cmon (not web links) have disappeared ... anyone else notice this?
jim
Thanks for the link ... never heard of aerogels before ... very cool stuff.

I guess my simple answer would be, "How can you not?"
I understand that this is not a photography forum, and many would consider photography a necessary evil to display their minis, but the photo...
I've never used an airbrush, but I would think using one for a gaming scale miniature would be incredibly difficult and if someone could, props to them for figuring it out. I don't think there is a...
If you want to build any sort of scale structure, I highly recommend using the molds from Hirst Arts: http://www.hirstarts.com/projects.html
I have been using them for more than 10 years ... the...

I have to agree with victoria ... I uploaded the pictures as per instructions ... but did not send any email or PM ... just followed the links and uploaded the pics. Is this the correct process?

You seem to have the "painting inside the lines" down pretty well after just a couple of minis ... so congrats on that!! And, as you've no doubt noticed, paint straight from the bottle is thick and...
This is how I apply the bulk of the paint on all of my pieces ... I do use the traditional dark to light highlighting occasionally, but probably 75-90+% of the paint I put on my models, I put on...
I would have to agree w/ Sir Wulf about your fallen warrior ... there is no sense of distress ... if he is truly fallen, then there needs to be something to let us know that he has not just fallen...
I use Vallejo Model Colour and Vallejo Game Colour paints pretty exclusively and have always used a dropper bottle filled w/ water and Future mixed at a 1:3 - 1:4 ratio as my mixture for diluting...
Yes, moderators have to approve the pics first and it seems that things are a little slow the past day or so ... I'm guessing it has to do w/ all the work to get ready for accepting pics for the next...
That would be awesome.

Well, I'll take the bait on this one ... your last statement (well the one before just curious) sorta sums up my feelings on the whole thing ... the universe is just TOO INCOMPREHENSIBLY BIG a place...
I certainly agree that ones style is a function of ones eye and ones perfected techniques ... that may sound a bit formal, but I'm basically trying to say that when we paint, we have a sense of what...
congratulations! sounds like a pretty sweet set-up!! All I'd have to do is jettison the wife and kids .... hmmm?!?!?! :)

I've finally been busy this year ... making up for the "WOW years."
Eight large scale garage kits:
Dark Elf Queen #1 - http://www.coolminiornot.com/248293
Dark Elf Queen #2 -...
Generally, a 6ft tall figure is the "standard" size ... 6ft = 72 inches. So, a miniature that is 1 inch tall would be 1/72 scale. So, roughly a 3 inch (~75 mm) figure would be 1/24 scale.

Wow!! Really cool stuff there. The weathering work is quite stunning and the pictures w/ the starfield look phenomenal. Thanks for starting this thread with your wonderful work.

Glyn,
WOW killed my painting for a couple years ... I finally said, I like producing real stuff a lot more than virtual stuff and gave up WoW ... I got in better shape ... dropped like 50 lbs and...
I've found that painting something for a friend is always a good motivator ... and I don't mean something that feels onerous like, "could you paint my army for me?" but try to do a cool display piece...
I have not tried them ... I've been meaning to ... thanks for the reminder. I should make sure I pick some up the next time I re-stock.
jim
I like the Vallejo paints as well ... they are incredibly smooth. As far as thinning the paint, I use "magic mixture" a combination of tap water and Future floor finish at a 4:1 ratio. The Future...
I kinda like to go the opposite route ... pick an interesting color that you have elsewhere in the mini that you'd like to accentuate ... base the "black areas" in that color mixed sorta 60/40...
I paint a lot of large scale resin models (even some that are pre-painted statues that I strip). I use Super Clean ... it's an engine degreaser that you can find in many hardware stores in the US. It...
Yeah, I can only re-iterate what\'s already been said. Lovely sculpts ... lots of beautiful movement in them. Assembly sucks ... if you don\'t own putty and have moderate skills with it, you should...
I thought some of it had an Apocalypse Now feel to it ... when they first entered Kurtz\' camp. Obviously, the gore was beyond anything in Kurtz\' camp, (and of course all the more hellish stuff),...
I painted this for a friend who was thinking about playing Chaos but decided to go High Elves instead. I don\'t have any use for it. So, I figured, I\'d throw it up on Ebay and see if someone else...
Hi. I just added a few Ilyad Games minis to my ebay store:
http://stores.shop.ebay.com/If-You-Play_Ilyad-Games_W0QQ_fsubZ610771011QQ_sidZ36259931QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322
Champion Chevalier...
Well, I finally summoned the courage to add Resident Evil: Extinction to the list ... mostly \'cause ... well ... uh ... Milla ... something about a zombie-mutilating action heroine in a trench coat...
Just added some more rare and OOP minis...
Games Day 2003 Space Wolf Priest...
That is ebay calling the blister for international priority mail a regular (instead of a small) flat rate package that is 41.95 ... I don\'t know how to make it not do that.
If you do...
Thanks for noting my auctions ... somehow I did not upload my Artemis auction ... duh. I\'m putting 3 Artemis up right now.
...
I finally added all of my Inquisitor miniatures to my ebay store ... if you are interested follow the link:
...
I just put up my first batch of Warhammer and 40k stuff ... some new ... some old ... some are quite RARE and all are New in Box / Blister and at very good prices.
If you want to check it out,...
some very rare Ral Partha dragons have been added ...
The Great Red Dragon
Takhisis Queen of Darkness
...
[/i]
It\'s really simple mathematics and I don\'t think has anything to do w/ snipers being faster than lovers ...
If you mini is averaging an 8 w/ 20 votes and somebody comes along and gives...
I am still sifting through my stash and have some more Ral Partha stuff to go through ... I believe I have some of the Planescape boxed sets ... what Planescape stuff are you interested in?
