Hello, just added some more very rare Confrontation minis: Le Bourreau, Isabeau the Secret, Griffin Minelayer, and Tanath.
Also added some OOP metal Games Workshop Sisters of Battle, Seraphim, and...
Looks like most everyone who wants these live in Europe/Australia. Shipping worldwide is ridiculously expensive, but I've updated my shipping costs on ebay. I'll probably lose $10-$30 per shipment...
The first bunch of auctions ends in 16 hours. Just thought I'd let everyone know.
Cheers,
jim
Just added a bunch of limited editions.
Cheers,
jim
BTW, if anyone purchases $150 or more in miniatures, I'll throw in a free Confrontation mini. You can pick the clan you are interested in, and I'll do my best to give you a few options.
Cheers,...
I set up Ebay to "calculate" shipping based on location. I can do a separate calculation for you. How many items boxes and blisters are you interested in?
Hi Everyone,
As I've transitioned to painting primarily large scale pieces, I've decided to start unloading a bunch of my gaming miniatures.
Over the next few weeks to months, I'll be putting a...
Given that I live in the Pacific Northwest, there's an obvious combination (to me anyway) ... salmon (not from a farm) and a lovely Oregon pinot noir ... not everyone would immediately gravitate to a...
I have been using their Painter's Touch Primer (white) for some time and really like it; however to your point, the last can I used seemed to have issues ... it seemed thinner and had less "grip"...
No doubt ... it's really hard ... takes a lot of practice and patience. Now, if you want to see something that'll blow your mind, check out this:

Very cool stuff ... just remember to always work light to dark ... the paper is your white so you have to plan stuff out and be super careful or use some masking fluid to keep portions of the paper...
I hope I speak for the over-40 crowd who saw Star Wars when it first came out ... I can't imagine the mouse could do anything much worse to the franchise than Lucas did w/ the most recent set of...
I did a bunch of stuff like that for my last D&D game ... yeah, right!! :)
jim
You have to enjoy the process ... for me, when I walk into my painting room, it's a release from all the other pressures in my life. Don't let painting become another one of those things you dread or...
I just downloaded the issue and there is a LOT of good stuff in there ... I would highly recommend folks take a look.
jim
I've never had any problems with the cmon shop. Refunds, replacement parts for something broken ... they've always been awesome.
jim
Could someone take a look at the top last 7 days? It appears something has gone very wrong ... several pieces seem to have received an unbelievable number of 10 votes.
I use a Canon 7D w/ a Canon 100 mm macro lens and a Manfrotto 055MF3 tripod w/ a 322RC2 "joystick" ball head ... the 322RC2 definitely makes it very easy to compose shots because it's so easy to...
Thanks for taking the time to post all of these wonderful pics ... too bad I'm thousands of miles away in what seems to be a painting desert with no shows (much less w/ quality workmanship like that)...
I agree w/ what freak said completely ... you've really got to "pump up the volume" on contrast for minis to pop ... if you think about it, you've got all these tiny little edges that somehow have to...
I've noticed that several of my pictures that were uploaded to cmon (not web links) have disappeared ... anyone else notice this?
jim
Thanks for the link ... never heard of aerogels before ... very cool stuff.

I guess my simple answer would be, "How can you not?"
I understand that this is not a photography forum, and many would consider photography a necessary evil to display their minis, but the photo...
I've never used an airbrush, but I would think using one for a gaming scale miniature would be incredibly difficult and if someone could, props to them for figuring it out. I don't think there is a...

That would be awesome.

Well, I'll take the bait on this one ... your last statement (well the one before just curious) sorta sums up my feelings on the whole thing ... the universe is just TOO INCOMPREHENSIBLY BIG a place...

congratulations! sounds like a pretty sweet set-up!! All I'd have to do is jettison the wife and kids .... hmmm?!?!?! :)

I've finally been busy this year ... making up for the "WOW years."
Eight large scale garage kits:

Generally, a 6ft tall figure is the "standard" size ... 6ft = 72 inches. So, a miniature that is 1 inch tall would be 1/72 scale. So, roughly a 3 inch (~75 mm) figure would be 1/24 scale.
jim
Wow!! Really cool stuff there. The weathering work is quite stunning and the pictures w/ the starfield look phenomenal. Thanks for starting this thread with your wonderful work.

Glyn,

I've found that painting something for a friend is always a good motivator ... and I don't mean something that feels onerous like, "could you paint my army for me?" but try to do a cool display piece...
I have not tried them ... I've been meaning to ... thanks for the reminder. I should make sure I pick some up the next time I re-stock.
jim
I like the Vallejo paints as well ... they are incredibly smooth. As far as thinning the paint, I use "magic mixture" a combination of tap water and Future floor finish at a 4:1 ratio. The Future...

Honestly, I don\'t have the patience to wait 48 hrs for something to dry, but if you do that would certainly open up some new opportunities for blending ... I\'m guessing comparable to oils.

I use vallejo (both game & model) almost exclusively. I have a few old RP colors that I\'ve always loved and still use. I use Reaper Inks, but agree that they screw on lids (as opposed to the dropper...
Thanks for the \"links.\" I checked out both places and I\'ll stand by my WOW statement. They are nice minis, but if you aren\'t into historical gaming, they seem quite dull by comparison to what...
A fairly quick way to do this is to mix your two \"end colors\" white & blue in 50/50 proportions and put this down as a base coat. When that is completley dry, mix up thinner versions of both colors...
having lived in Dallas for 5 1/2 years, the city/state etc. was enough to keep me from going back ... having an ex there hardly seems to compare to the influence of the natural beauty of the area. ;)...
wow ...
Well, having painted mostly fantasy my entire painting career and only recently jumping into larger scale pieces (fantasy) and from there to larger scale historical, I will definitley say...
I definitely prefer faded, washed-out, worn, travelled whatever word you call it colors on my minis. The miniatures I paint are warriors, adventurers, etc. ... they are battle-tested and battle-worn....
I\'ve only been to one GD ... LA last year. There are a lot of good pieces throughout the field especially in the single fig categories. Off the top of my head, here are a couple CMON IDs to pieces...
If you\'re going for fun, continue that theme with what (and how) you choose to paint it. Don\'t worry about whether the judges like NMM or metallics. Find some figures that you really will enjoy...

thanks for the kind words Mark ... and you\'re right that spending too much time analyzing scores is not particularly worthwhile, but leaving a comment on every mini is not practical either...
and constructive does not have to be mean-spirited or even point out flaws ... if you point out the good areas of a 5-ish mini, you\'ve given the painter something to be proud of and sort of by...

Yep, I got boxes of these ... typically, a group of new minis become available ... I buy a handful of new stuff and get them all cleaned, primed and ready to paint. Takes a while to get through them...
A dedicated painting space makes a HUGE difference! Now whenever you have the urge to paint, you don\'t have to overcome the energy barrier required to get stuff out ... set stuff up ... and then put...
