In regards to miniature photography I'm sure any entry level DSLR will do the trick.
I use to have a Nikon D3000 and it did just fine on macro when I needed it to, if you want to go a bit higher...

Love the regiment, looks very dynamique. The skin is good too, could maybe use some darker shades, but that\'s mostly because I imagine marauders to be rather tanned :P

I\'d probably vote around 6 right now.

The model lacks a bit of contrast in my opinion. The grey thingys on his back seem to be just one heavy coat of grey, which dosn\'t give the best effect....

I tend to find that baking soda (got the translation correct cedric ;) ) works well. Just mix it with some white glue and apply, if you want a fresh snow effect just sprinkle a bit more on top of...
