if you haven’t got a moisture trap, get one. If you have add a bit of cotton wool in it to increase its efficiency.

Candles mights be a yellowish cast all around fading out, but for the centre of the light from the sconce hitting the stone it’d be the stone colour much lightened towards white...
Just as a suggestion if you have an airbrush hit the two areas with a mid to light grey starting close, then pulling away so that you get a key point and then a fade.

Problem is Dameon, is trying not to sound like a whinging git explaining what’s going/gone wrong AND maintain a bit of privacy at the same time.
