I\'ve made all my main tools (apart from the clayshapers) of stainless steel. It\'s a lot more scratch resistant than the ordinary wax carver tools I had before. With both I will wipe them off...
Good to hear your tool work ok. Is elasticity a problem by the way? I only managed to get low friction materials three weeks ago and haven\'t gotten around to test any yet.
The article is by Stefan Nieheus of Masquerade miniatures. You can contact him through his website.
By the way, the thread seems to have moved:...
Well, that\'s ok. Cindy asked me to \"kick you\" so that makes sure you can\'t escape.
Anyway, I\'ll drop by on thursday so we can share info.
Hi,
Any set plans for dinner? I have a dinner meet on Thursdays already and will be at the sculptor\'s meet on Saturday. Other than that I\'m ok. Another option: lunch meet at the gencon itself?
...
Hi,
another one for Gencon. I\'ve just finished organising this years sculptor\'s meet. For those who want to join in:
This time we have it at the Paint & Take table on the saturday from 19.00....
I would use a Milliput/GS mix or ProCreate. Warm the mixed putty a little under a light (or better, the model itself if it\'s not plastic) to make it stick better. Place, let it cure a little, set it...
The Australian company would be shadowforge. There are also companies around the world who distribute if but I don\'t have the details.
Hi,
just a few notes on the original question on technique. From the way I understand it he designs the patterns on a CAD systems which are then cut at a factory (i.e. you don\'t need to have the...
Update on Procreate in Japan. Bob Finkenauer just phoned me the full metal planet store has bought two boxes: http://fullmetalplanet.biz/
I suppose they will be available some time soon.

Japan? Should have seen that in your details. In that case you can also consider Tamiya epoxy putty (item 87051*400), it also cures hard and is ok for sculpting organic shapes. And probably a bit...
I just updated my previous message with a series on making a epoxy rod. I used ProCreate with a little more grey in it. It has the right stiffness, is rubbery enough to be cut with a knife before...
The way I would do this would be:
- Roll a cone and a cylinder. You can do this like I show here:

Make a mix of brown stuff and...
Well, the battlefield Berlin store is in Berlin. http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/
They have tanks minis too.
Actually, now I come to think of it, you don\'t need to worry about other titles right now. There are still nine other books in the foundation series. :)
And about timelines based stories. Arthur...
How about the Arthur C Clarke Rama series? I really liked those (as well as many other books by him).
Apart from the drilling and grinding (get some drills and cutters from your dentist next time you\'re there) I\'m also using it as a lathe.
Nah, she\'s only 16 now and not yet enlisted.
Yes, excellent books. I really liked the eternal war. The other two were ok but not as strong.
My first encounter with the books was actually not though the actual comic but through the Dargaud...
Worked with my Proxxon for years and am very happy with it. These tools are from a German company that specialises in tools for scale modelling. It\'s not a \"cheap tool\" company if you had that...
Hmm... Some of the things here sound all too familiar.
Mouldlines. I started scale modelling when I was 6 so I\'ve always noticed mouldlines and such things. Worse, I have this urge to remove them...
For those intereted, Sergey Zlobov from Russia is doing a horse sculpting workshop on his forum:

Hmm, wouldn\'t be surprised to find him in the Darwin awards one day. Is that legal by the way?
Answer to the original question: No, and preferably not even in the same country.
Well, not yet...
Hmm, after a month in China I was dying for a good newspaper. Guess what they gave me in the plane: the Sun. Argh.
Hmm, this could also mean that some people from China may get the Sun as their...
Goblin turtle. Cool idea. Look a tad less organised as a Roman one. :)
Hi,
still working on them but progress is slow as i have a few other projects going on and my real life job is eating up my spare time. :(
Bye, Ming-Hua
You\'re welcome.
Hi,
another update just happened.
Bye, Ming-Hua
Oh, I forgot that. I gave the Thunderbolt mountain swan ship to my cousin for her marriage. Didn\'t paint it though. Just antiqued it.
Let\'s see. I\'ve once made a little diorama of Yoda in front of his hut for a friend who is a huge Star Wars fan. Apart from that I\'ve sort of done two conversions as friends\' birthday present. A...
CD\'s that I listen most to at the moment: Stream of passion - Embrace the storm, Delain - Lucidity, Apocalyptica - cult and reflections, Kate Bush - Hounds of love, Tori Amos - the beekeeper.
If I disregard tanks and plastic figures the first one would be an orc I made in clay. There were no stores here so I made it myself. The first ones I bought were a set of female warriors (not sure...
I started scale modelling when I was six. Mostly 1:76 - 1:72 scale military vehicles. The size was probably because of budget and space. And I had a fascination for small things, so I\'ve never felt...
:flip::flip::bouncy::bouncy::flip::flip::beer:
Congratulations! Well done, Becca.
Hi,
on Milliput falling apart: try mixing in 30-50% green stuff. This will make the putty stay together better and after hardening the mix will be stronger. It will also be hard enough to file,...
Is it still for Acrobat 7+ only? Unfortunately the 6+ versions don\'t run on Windows ME which I have here.
Edit: ok cool. Acrobat gives a warning but can still open the issue. Well done.
Edit...
Shame we didn\'t think of this at Crisis. That was a more likely place to find such figures. Perhaps you should ask the guys in Delft about where they buy their figures. They are more into historical...
Mike (or another CMON moderator),
perhaps you should also contact the owners (or the provider) of the site the e-books are on:

Bye, Ming-Hua
Edit. Done...
Actually, perhaps we should drop a note on the different painting forums so people know about this. If more people are aware of it the chances of us getting warned fast the next time are higher.
...
So, this is the second attempt to sell this E-book through Ebay. I\'ve dropped a note over at the TMP thread so they know about it.
Bye, Ming-Hua
Hi,
I just saw a note on this over at TMP:

At tad belated, but congratulations. Have you already started on getting minis that can be used for the wedding cake?
And are you comeing to Crisis this year?
Bye, Ming-Hua
Anybody going to Duzi this weekend?
Or you could do as with the sculptor\'s meet at Gencon. It\'s independent from the event but organised every time so sculptors get to meet up. We could perhaps do something like this for CMON at...
Another quick note, do you intend to use it in London only? If not you may want to check if the type of bulb is also available in Moscow (or take along some spare ones).
Bye, Ming-Hua
Like this?
For the other type of scale I\'d also use tubes and patterns.
Bye, Ming-Hua

Ok, testfit. What do you think of it size and shape wise?
Bye, Ming-Hua
Edit. hmm, thought I uploaded the small...
It\'s a 1 on 1 mix of green stuff and milliput that I\'m using. It\'s my regular mix for mechanical thing. I also used it on the rifle.
Pro-create mixes up grey by the way.
The music festival...
Spirit is ok, time is the issue. :(
Recut the feathers a little bit so the edges are thinner but now I need to do some repairs since my knife slipped a few times.
Hello? Anybody around? I hope to be working on the wings on Sunday (off to a music festival tomorrow). I\'ll recut the feather a little bit and then will add the wings to the frame. I\'ll try to get...
Did you use this principle? It\'s one I\'ve seen used in other digital models.

Over at the Twenot (Dutch tank model and history association) they are discussing ultrasonic baths to clean brushes, airbrushes and even remove paint of plastic scale models.

Out of interest. What kind of US military promotion is he refering too? Airforce tests with flying broomsticks?
Best thing to do is to contact him to correct that or ask for his sources so you can compare with yours first.
Well, there are bugs in there too and humans. So not all of it is ships.
Also fun...

Still alive. Just very busy with other sculpts right now. Anyway, what ideas? Let us hear. :)
Hi,
the putty has been discussed over in several other forums already but I\'ve not yet seen any news here, so I thought I\'d better let you know too.

Hi,
there is actually a group of miniature painters in Groningen. I\'ll see if I can get in touch with them for you.
Groningen is a nice town by the way. Just very far away from everything else...
Over at the tank forum people are using dullcote of modelmaster. Has anybody tried this? It\'s a subbrand of Testors so I\'m wondering if it\'s the same stuff.
I\'ll send a mail to Testors to ask...
Excalibur and freebooter have a few too.
I\'ve got the program too and I\'m using it for the same reason Klute does. I also have the muscle map but for the more average type of person. Haven\'t done much rendering yet. I\'d love to do more...
Ok, checked and found a few things. I\'ve PM\'ed you corrections, additional translations and suggestions.

yup, still around. By the way, shouldn\'t this thread be moved to \" Work in Progress and Project logs\"? Should be ask the moderators? Or can you do this?
Sad news indeed. Though possibly not that much a surprise to the people there. I was in Mumbai last year and a local software dealer told me about religions in India and conflicts because of it. He...
Quick update: I made a few more bits for the wings but have now decided to wait for my camera so I can take pics. Right now it looks it will arrive in two weeks since the UV filter is not yet in.

I know I discussed it on some sites like 1listsculpting but am not sure if it was ever discussed here. Anyway, the mix becomes somewhat softer than GS and gets a texture that\'s easier for drapery...
You can check local train hobby or scale modelling stores. If that doesn\'t help you can also have a look at the stores listed in the UK scale modelling and train hobby magazines.
Hi,
I posted a whole list of books over here:

Yup, mic and headphone or speakers. We use it at work actually. It\'s also possible to do conference calls, so it\'s possible to have a miniatures skype meet. :) The only thing is that it requires...
Hard to say. One of my favourites is the ratcather by wargames foundry. It\'s fairly simply and relatively rough compared to fantasy minis but nevertheless a cool mini.
Thanks for the replies. it\'s interesting to compare them to the ones I got from sculptors. :)
Zecorto: thanks.
Wat if it comes to painting? I can imagine painters prefering smooth surfaces as this makes blending easier.
Hi,
I\'m still working on my werebadger (very little sculpting time at the moment) and I\'m trying to decide what to do with the hair. In existing miniatures I see three styles:

Er, haven\'t we had this thread before?

Hi,
quick update. Work is a bit slow since I am fairly busy right now. I\'ve only created a few profiled sections at the moment.
No pics I fear. I still need a new camera. :(

We had a conscript army in the Netherlands too. I was in the army (radio operator) a few years before this ended and we went for a purely professionals army.

A few places where you can to ask:

Skrit, you forget the la place restaurant. Oh, and that it\'s the closest major Dutch town near to where Chaz Elliott lives. :D
Added to that, La place is the restaurant chain of the V&D department stores. You find them in any sizeable V&D and sometimes as separate restaurants (jaarbeurs Utrecht for instance). SO when you...

Heightwise you\'re pretty much correct. Problem is that several figure ranges use a non realistic proportion (less than 1:7 body:head) which makes a figure look a tad short and wide. So, if you put...

@Ebonbuddha: why miniature? ;)

Thanks. By the way, below the gun drawing is a quick sketch or a pistol idea I had. Feel free to use it if you like.
Generic will be ok, though if you can make it look a bit more Sci-Fi than what there is around now it would be cool. The gun it goes by is a few pages back (as is the pistol I made then).
Ok, will do. By the way, do you mind doing the pistol to go with the figure? I already got the gun from last time. Just need to clean it up a bit.
Right now I need to find my metal mesh so I can...
A FAQ would be nice but I think we\'d need a seperate section for it. I\'m keeping a list of reference books and sites which is in this message:...

Another trick to get putty to stick is to lightly warm the putty or the surface before application. Not too hot or too long since that will cure the putty.

I wouldn\'t use plastic glues for glueing down flock. These glues contain solvent which will affect paint. I\'d try a thicker matt varnish (as a glue, yes) instead.
As to question 2,...
Hi,
just updated the lists.
Bye, Ming-Hua
From the looks of it they are railroad miniatures. I at least recognise a number of them from the Preiser range (like the family on the icecream). I really like the idea and the great pictures they...
And as with many things, how awkward it may be at the moment, when it\'s long past it\'s fun to tell about. :) Er, you did check at the second visit there were no other sisters I assume? ;)

I\'d do as freakinacage suggests. From the sound of it you\'re just doing a conversion and it\'s not for production so there are no worries about undercuts and so.

Er, those eyes, that\'s just because of the flash, right? :o ;)
Talking of poodles, do you know this...
Oh well, as long as it\'s not the hell for people who use their mobile in a theatre. :)
Yup, it\'s heresy. Edited it already. As far as I\'m concerned, it\'s another opportunity to get a badger into that range. ;) Or try to.
For the sculptors here, Andy us having a sculpting competition:

Bleep? You mean they censored bits of what they said?
Interesting to see nobody mentioned Sandra Bullock. I\'m pretty sure a few years back somebody would have mentioned her. It\'s interesting to see how quickly some people are replaced by new idols.
A skeleton is a good guide. So you could take a picture of a skeleton and scale it down using a graphics computer.
Do keep one thing in mind though. Different companies use different proportions...
