Those are ace. Still love these minis and you’ve done a great job. Love the colour contrasts.
Lovely work. Great print quality too. Which printer did you use?
I love the aberrants models and you’re doing a great job!
Both great Adam but I love the Alien. Fantastic work.
Thought I’d share a quick pic of my genestealer cult project too. This is more about getting minis ready for gaming but still looks presentable I think.
Notvthe most original scheme but I love...
I'd not seen these before. I really like them and you've done a great job with them.
Thanks guys. Not enough progress to show today. Recent hobby time was spent trying out killteam with my little group. Also first of a new bunch of 3D printers arrived so spent some time testing that...
Saw this on ig and love it. Might be because orange is my favourite colour but super paint job.
Have you seen the aberrants? You’d do them justice I think.
Immense project!
im interested in hearing your glue test results. I’ve been using zap for years but if there’s something better would be good to know.
Hi and welcome! I totally approve and great to see papa nurgle’s love spreading!
i can’t quite tell from the photos but looks suitable dirty. The nmm is looking great on the second photo. Nice...
So smooth and such good contrast. Lovely!
Little update. I’ve started increasing the contrast as I highlight. I’m trying to add a bit of texture too. Some looks a little harsh but I plan to add some glazes for more variation across the...
Yeah, IG is easy but I don't paint much mini stuff on there. At least, not often. I mostly use it for my 3D work, although I'm looking to start crossing over soon.
I don't think my airbrush skills...
Thanks Hairster. I do have an airbrush I consider d using it for some base coats but shoes away. Not sure why!
good tip for painting in some texture. I’ll definitely try that as well as adding more...
Thanks Graishak!
this big fella is coming along. Still a long way to go and it’s showing lack of skill at larger things.
I think the head is coming along nicely but thI body needs some refining. ...
So good! You’re definitely feeding my nurgle frenzy!
love Sloppity. Looks great in the more muted tones you e used.
The big papa is underway. Early days but think it’s going ok. I’m going for slightly fleshier tones on the front and greener elsewhere. The purple in the shadows should help bring it all together....
Wow. Those greenskinz are ace. Some of best I’ve seen.
Love those sylvaneth. The pink flowers suite muted tones really well.
Fascinating thread. Thanks so much for sharing. I love how you capture tension and anticipation in your sculpts. Masterful!
Awesome goblin! That has a lovely traditional, more whimsical, feel about it. A bit more 'froud'. Top work.
Agree with other comments. Love the colour choices for your green knight.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.
Well my poxwalker experiment is satisfactory and I’m now sorted on my recipe. Will be mixing some flesh tones into my nurgle scheme, with some green bloat and purple in the shadows.
Although this...
That's lovely. Love the colours you have in there.
Your texture work is lovely, as is your nmm. What a great return!
i have long breaks now and then too and wish I came back as strong as you.
Very nice!
Great work. Love the texture and weathering. Really brings it to life.
I second the iwata neo. I love mine. I use it with a sparmax Arism compressor. It’s small and quiet and perfect for odd hobby work.
Not much I can say except wow! Just gone through the whole thread and love your style. The freehand is amazing but I think it’s your texture and tone I like most.
Beautiful!
My nurgle project will be a long term project but anted to start testing so using some simple pox walkers to try out schemes. Probably going to have a little more green than often seen. Will be a mix...
Well hello everybody. It's been quite some time and life seems to have got in the way again.
I now have a new space for all hobby activity and next wednesday will see the first of a new club night....
Thanks!
not sure why it glows but I agree. I think it might be the vmc pigments? Blues are now almost done. Will get some more progress then post another photo.

Hi all.
As per the usual it’s been some time since I got any real painting done. But I did just grab a dark imperium box so starting a marine chapter.
I was going to go for old school mentor...
Great work. It can be tricky making red stay red when you start highlight but you've completely nailed it.
Looking forward to seeing this done.
Painting is brilliant as always and that saliva is suitably gross.
Top work but that's stating the obvious.
Thanks all. Interesting idea about cooling off the bone shadows. I'll experiment a little. Thanks!
Also, if anybody cares to vote, I'd appreciate it.

I agree with AndyG. Good contrast and smooth transitions. Really nice.
Great sculpting work. Smooth but with lovely crisp edges. Very nice!
I finally finished the megaboss! Very pleased but it took some time. I wanted to push myself and I think I have. Feel like I kind of levelled up a little. I would really appreciate constructive...
Beautiful might not be the right word but this is simply great work. Love every element of it so far.
Great looking guildball team. They'll look impressive on the pitch.
That cogsmith is lovely. Really good colour choices and love your style. Squigs are cool too. Love the vibrancy. Suits them really well.
Thank you!
Ok, small armour update. I was going to do some panels in other colours to help with colour contrast but I've decided to wait until I've done the chainmail, cloth and added some...
It does indeed. If you look at the. Best plate you can see I added some purple glazing already. The purple will be more subtle though. I want to concentrate on the more sea type colours.
Work so far. Concentrating on adding green hues to the left and shaded parts. Think it's working and adding a little interest.
Many thoughts?
I feel the same. My original thought was for earthy tones, dark grungy metal and so on but I wonder if something a bit different might work.
The skin kin will be be mid to pale green with...
My megaboss idea is growing on me. I think I'll be going for a palette that reminds me of the coast, so blues and greens with some rusty orange reds for contrast (maybe fits the theme of a coastal...
Great stuff. Love the skin tones.
Thanks Octavia80. I'm pretty pleased with that armour!
Right now my thoughts are on the Orruk megaboss that's waiting for me. I'm tempted to paint him a bit different to the yellows and blacks I...
Thanks all. Octavian80 I airbrush the basecoat and the first highlight, then move on to a brush forvthecrest. I find that's quicker and I get a smoother result for each coat.
Thanks all. I feel like I'm make by some decent improvements to n my painting recently.
Ive finished sun Tze now too. Pretty pleased.
54580
Thanks Kretcher. I can't take all the credit for the colours. I've followed Angel Giraldez recipe for the yellows. I'm pretty pleased with the ninja though. Not seen one like that before.
I was thinking of getting that wild elf. Sculpt looks lovely buts the cast like? Your plan sounds thorough and good ideas. I should take a leaf from your book. I rarely plan things. Sometimes not...
Wow. Huge thanks to you all for the kind words. I'm trying to improve and you're definitely making the effort feel worthwhile. That ninja seems popular! If you don't mind I'd love it if you'd vote...
Just wow!
i thought he was twice the size until you posted that Leto!
Stunning work! Nothing to add really except glad I saw the megaboss. I'm about to start one and good to see how approached the armour.
Lovely job
Oops! Here's the step by step!
54537
Thank you all so much for the kind words and advice. These infinity minis are certainly small but they're great fun to paint.
The ninja is now finished! Very pleased with it.
54536
I'm a member...
Thanks guys! Krule, I know! I kept thinking that while I was painting it.
I've moved on to the ninja now. So far only done the cloth but already I'm quite pleased. My problem is what areas to paint...
Great thread and love what you're doing. Your style works well but I think you should push the highlights more.
Looking forward to seeing how you progress.
Fantastic work. Voted.
Looking ace. I love the colours you chose for the skin.
Stick with the airbrush. It's worth putting the time in. The key is finding balance between thinning, distance from mini and air pressure.
Theres a lot of talk about pressure but you can...
That's a cool mini. What's your plan for it?
Love treebeard and the method you used to do him. What else have you got in store for the base?
Thanks.
It is a bit bright but the base is a mix of plaster, paint and fibre based snow flock.
Looks a little like white candy floss in real life.
And done. Airbrushed a fair bit and pretty happy
54318
Thanks so much. I'm pleased with the way I got the greys looking. Smooth not chalky which is often my problem.
Next up something completely different. Well still infinity but a yu jing zanshi. I'm...
Thanks all. Agree about the osl. Definitely not my strong point but will go back and rework soon.
Heres my next finished nomad. Lighter suit in this one but still think it looks ok.
54276
I'm. Thanks guys. I have some new glazes on the way so took a rest to paint one with less red. Here's my spektr.
I usually hate painting black but this turned out ok. I think.
54253
Great jobs on this. Cool seeing good paint jobs on less serious figures.
Looking lovely. Love the colour choices.
Ooh. Lovely work and really looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.
That barbarian looks amazing. Flesh looks ace already!
Gorgeous work. I love you colour contrast. Great choices!
Now, if you could just stop for a few years to let some of us catch up!
Thanks guys.
Maenas, I agree. I think I'll go back in and add some deeper shading but question is should I go warmer or cooler for the shadows?
Been busy today. Started my nomads. First up this mobile brigada.
Started out thinking he was too pink but once I got the turquoise on it made all the difference.
54139
Link fixed. Thanks for letting me know!
cheers foxtail. He was one of my favourites to paint. That one and the orc in the middle.
Please leave me a vote too! I'd appreciate it.
http://www.coolminiornot.com/407342
Thanks guys.
Boubi, are you on the infinity forums? There are some good resources for finding players.
Maenas, I agree about the weapons. I'm as yet undecided about how they'll be in the end. I'm...
Today I finished the Nisses. Really enjoyable mini to paint.
I must get a group shot with a good camera soon. These all look a bit rubbish with my phone!
54038
Looks lovely i.e. it's coming along well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and methods. Really interesting.
Made some headway on the Akalis. Not sure if I need more green to help him stand out. What do you think?
54014
A little more progress. Finished the fusiliers now. On to the Akslis and Nisses.
53981
Thanks!
I almost always work up from black. I guess it's habit that's become my style.
That said I did work differently for these.
Black primer, then zenithal highlighting. Airbrushed Prussian...
The Father Knight is done now too. Painting patterns is a bit beyond me but I'm pleased with the row of crosses.
53853
Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to go with lime green. Subtle but hopefully enough too look cool.
Cheers!
The Orc is done. Except basing but I'll do them all at once, probably with themes resin.
Nextbup the Father Knight. Another great mini. So impressed by the infinity minis. Great sculpts, high...
Little update.
53758
I'm starting the pano figure with the plan to take my time and try to develop my skills. This Orc trooper is first. Airbrushed preshade, basecoat and first highlight. Second two highlights were...
Just read this whole thread. Some awesome work and love how you've done the marine. Love the style. Very refreshing.
Thanks for sharing!
I've been checking it your whites, thanks to krulebear, and v impressed plus so useful.
Then this skin! Looks ace and the satinness (that's a word right?) is ace.
Thanks Krule. Will check that out.
10! Thanks so much. I do that for most colours but never occurred to me to do it with whites. Will definitely be trying that next time!
cheers!
Oh I like that. Great muted colours I think help with the overall result.
Part of why I ask is simply to improve. Partly because I think cleanliness of painting is going to be key to theses guy...
53691
Question for you all. I can get my whites looking smooth but when go back to add details, like studs or rivers, it always ends up a mess.
Am I using too dark an ink, too much? What's the key as...
Just a small update. Started tidying things up, working on the weapons etc.
Also just got my first infinity minis. Such good quality. The designs are ace but the casting is amazing.
Going to...
That is gorgeous. I wish I could paint patterns to even half as good as that.
Thanks KruleBear. Good to be back painting again.
Moved on to a cataphractii terminators now. Pretty happy so far but needs a little neatening.
53617
ok then. To start off, here's my first mini in a while. Love the mini and enjoyed painting it. A few areas I'm not pleased with but overall not too bad for a return to brushwork.
53612
Catching up on your thread has made coming back after almost a year completely worth it.
I'm definitely inspired again!
Wow. What a year. I've been all over the world, moved my studio and been completely rammed with magazine work.
Thats meant almost zero painting time but last week or so things have returned to...
Thanks all. I'm really enjoying Dozer. That said I thought I should finish off the kastelan robots and avoid having yet more partially finished projects hanging around. So here is a little turntable:...
Gorgeous as usual. Love the earthy tones youve worked in .
Hi all. Hope you had a good holiday. Apologies for the delay but I got knocked sideways by a virus. Anyway, here is the follow on video where I show one of my rust painting methods.
...
Thanks! Glad ypu like the colours I wanted to nod to some ww2 colours but keep the scifi theme.
As for the metals I tend to do the clean up with thinners as you noticed then, if needed, i'll pick...
Great work. The team shot shows how well you've done them. They look really cohesive.
Ok, so not rust patches on this one (yet - I may add a tiny bit) but the weathering is almost done. I want this one to be in better state of repair, as he sends his buddy to do all the hard work....
I thought I'd show my process for weathering so here's the first video, on simple grime and dirt. I'll do one on rust next.
http://youtu.be/XSAXVVfbjss
Sorry to hear about your woes but always good to move on stronger which looks like you are. That ape is ĉoming nicely.
Also good to see another tub of masters brush cleaner. I absolutely love that...
Im definitely going to add some more rust but i think ill work on the partner model first, then try to match them up after.
I quite like the colour palette now. The temple guard base coat was far...
The bird droppings are perfect. Work really well. Looking forward to seeing what you do.
Happy holidays all. I hope the hobby santa has been kind. I was luckily enough to get a bunch of hordes figures, a new daylight lamp and an iwata airbrush.
Thanks! It is completely over the top but that fits with the story, which I hope will be clear when finished. I agree about some smaller patches. Will definitely do that.
My weathering technique...
Small update. A little grunge and slime added using AK Interactive streaking grime and mig extreme wash.
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1560/23319732784_3d114640be_c.jpg
Now on to the second,...
As well as a wet palette you could try Vallejo metalic medium or even just the standard medium. They both work well.
I use Zap medium for most resin and metal pieces. The thin version I found spread too much but the medium is great and fills very small join gaps too. I don't find it dries out either.
For plastic I...
Thanks. Im pretty happy with the metal as is although I may add a little weathering.
For now im making steady progress on rusting up this Kastelan robot for a diorama I'm working on. The rust is a...
Thanks saint toad. I like the idea of yellowish highlights on the sash. Good thinking!
Agree about the highlights too. Will follow ypur advice, then tidy up a few bits and put in the gallery.
...
Yeah those eyes are fab and the warpaint is great. Subtle enough to let the rest shine.
Lovely work and your freehand is superb.
Well, this dude is done. For now. I may well change the colour of the robe. I do quite like the military feel of it like this but wonder if something brighter and more saturated might be better....
Looks so smooth and you've nailed the loaded brush by the looks of things. I've tried it a few times but just doesn't work for me. Any tips?
Looking great. Love the skin tones and the nmm looks cool. I think id maybe give the silver a few glazes but thats just my tastes. looking forward to seeing more.
I would love to see how youre verdegri and copper would turn out. love your tmm myself.
Hi. i love the skin on korgoth. really nice.
whats that female mini? i dont recognise it.
small update. im going for a slightly military look for this, in the hope it will help the skin stand out.
Im pretty pleased with the TMM on this one, thanks to vallejo air metalics and nuln oil.
...
Well, now I have to decide whether I burn my brushes in despair or take inspiration but with the knowledge I'll never be as good.
Stunning stuff.
I was expecting a delivery of some AK Interactive bits but they haven't shown up, so I'm changing tac and started this dude instead. Lovely sculpt and lots of personality. So far so good I think,...
ok, i have a few things om working on right now, so heres a little peek.

Hehe, I know that feeling!
Have you got started with the wet palette yet? How do you find it? I swear by mine now. Will never go back!
I love this. Great skills and tells a wonderful story too. Top work!
KruleBear I glued it all together first. I'm not a fan of painting things separately (I know, I did that with the stormcast but that shield is pretty big!).
Cheers
Thanks and I know exactly what you mean. I may do another and vary things a little. Or, more likely, I'll do another but in TMM instead.
Cheers!
This was great before the weathering but now it's a whole new level. Gorgeous stuff!
Thanks Zab!
Ok, time for a small update. The stormcast is getitng there. Very slowly. My silver nmm is noway near as satisfying as the gold, although I'm reasonably happy with the tabbard part....
As the others said Id try and get some colour contrast into the skin too cooler shades in the shadows rather than darker green might work well
looking great though and love the idea of painting...
Small update. Had a little time to work on this some more. Armour all done except glazing and some ink work in the shade.

Maulg is looking good. Making use of the great sculpt I see. I just finished mine and loved the muscles. Really nice to paint. I like the shadow tones you have started too. Looking forward to seeing...
Wow, thanks guys! Lovely comments. I'll hold of on the yellow for now and see how it looks once more armour is done. I've never got on with nmm before, so really glad you think I'm doing ok.
As...
That's awesome! Superb skills and love the colour choices. Ruddiness of the flesh is just gorgeous, if that's the right word for such a handsome chap!
ooh great to catch up on your projects. That skin is just full of lovely tones!
Absolutely gorgeous
I have a few projects on the go right now. The ogre is almost done - just needs basing and I have a couple of kastelan robots that I'm butchering to de-40k them but this evening the urge took me to...
love that orc the colour choice is a lovely mix of old school saturation but in a limited, unified way looks fantastic.
ooh that pirate is looking lovely
also, kudos for your attitude towards the use of your image i think you made the best choice.
And yet another week gets away from me, although not without a little painting. Just invested in a Vallejo model color set as I've tested a few he equivalents and like them a lot. Always had trouble...
That king maul is looking lovely great skin tones
hi all been a long time but back in the saddle will post some recent works soon.
Well, that was a short sweet return!
I ended up doing a lot of traveling for work (just what is needed with a newborn!), so very little time for painting. It looks like things are settling down for...
First thread I've read after a few months away and...just wow! Stunning work.
Hi all,
my main painting thread has been a little unloved for the past few months, due to the arrival of my daughter. I've had very little time to paint.
However, my job is as a 3D artist and I...
Hi all. It's been far too long since I updated this thread (again). I have a good excuse though. My latest mini:

RAR_001 by pariah...
Right, time for an update. I have done almost nothing with regards to painting for some time. Getting the house (and myself) ready for our first child has taken all my spare time.
However the baby...
Sorry. Yes, I meant putty and paint. All invites gone now but if I get more you'll be first to know.
Thanks all!
I'm dying to do some more this weekend. If I can stay away from decorating duty for a bit (trying out mmm on light switches is a fantastic idea, although may slow the process down a...
Wow, having a pregnant wife is really taking it's toll on my painting time. At least mini painting. I seem to be doing a lot of house painting!
I've managed to do a little more on this figure. You...
That's an awesome base. Great mini too. Can't wait to see you apply your skills to it.
Gorgeous mini and really looking forward to what you do with it. What's the plan for colour scheme?
Lovely job. That contrasty skin looks ace.
It is a great mini. WIsh I had more time to get into it, as it is a joy to paint. That said I've started on the second highlight. Adding a little creaminess....
...
Agreed. Looks so much better without the harsh, front on flash. Good photography makes all the difference.
It's all come together nicely. Some of the highlights on the wooden staff maybe aren't...
Right, enough silliness. Back to the painting. I've had a start at this dude now. Early days, with a basecoat and blocking out the first highlight. Right now is looking a bit too red but that will be...
Hehe, I knew it was coming sooner or later! Wondered who would get there first.
Time to work on my skin tones! Next project is this awesome mini from figone:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8532/8537573998_0c787cae18.jpg
Needed a little filling but overall a great casting....
That skin looks great. Has a really lovely (gross) pallour about it. Looks properly translucent.
Third eye looks good in that photo.
Hi all. Not had chance to sit and paint for a couple of weeks but hoping to get some time over the next few days. I'm going to start on the Ork's paint job next but I do also have a delivery from...
Thanks!
My red is as follows, over a black primer:
Khorne red
Mephiston red
Evil suns scarlett
Then highlights are progressively more white scar mixed in with the previous mix. I tend to...
I may not paint this guy next but I'm almost done converting. Still some smoothing and details to add, such as a pommel and binding to the choppa!
...
Looking great, although I think you need some cooler tones in there. Or maybe it is the light, which does look a bit on the warm side.Oh and I haven't forgotten you. I'll reply to your PM shortly...
That is looking lovely (in a disgusting way). I miss the humour you used to get with old nurgle stuff.
Thanks all! I'm pretty pleased with it.
Got to decide what to paint next. I have an Ork that I'm heavily converting, plus Festus, which I might make a diorama for, as well as boxes and bags of old...
Goriel is now finished. I've had so little time to paint the last week or so but managed to get a bit of time today, so finished his base and he is shin deep in gore!
...
Wow, I've not been able to get on here for a while and that's the reply I see! Thanks so much! I wish I had more to show now than this bit of base (and a little bit of conversion work I'm tinkering...
That is really really nice. My day job is as a 3D artist and an editor at 3D world magazine and I see a lot of 3D prints and zbrush sculptures. This is one of the best prints I've seen yet.
I'd...
I found adding a touch (I mean a really small amount) of lamina medium to my washes really helped take the shine off. It does make them flow a bit differently though but might be worth a try.
Busy weekend meant not much painting time but I managed to get a few minutes here and there. THE FRUITS OF MY LABOUR:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8470/8444936503_05ba8ca592_c.jpg
Welcome aboard. I think you are off to a flying start. Far superior to my first attempts.
You're showing lots of improvement already and it's such early days. My advice would be to thin your...
Can't knock this at all. That's some serious blending there. Looking lovely!
There are some lovely designs on the stegadon kit. Lots of nice extras too.
Back to what I can finish though. Had time to work a little more on goriel today. What do you thick of the colour of the...
Great thread. Great read and I'm really enjoying watch your nurgle daemon prince develop. Looks great so far and looking forward to seeing the boils grow!
On another note how do you do your bases?...
That's great. I love seeing what people do with that model. Nice to see something a bit different.
and a little more work...

I know what you mean. Their plastics are fabulous. Really well designed as well as nice sculpts. I've only bought one resin from GW but it's still in it's box, so fingers crossed. I'll get to that...
They look great. I like the extra gore on the genestealer. May have to pinch that idea, as I'm painting that mini at the moment.
I like the purple gems too. If you'd told me without me seeing it I...
Fantastic plan you have there. I hope it holds up! The fat hobbit looks ace by the way!
A little work on goriel. Photo isn't doing it justice but you can see roughly how it is going.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8510/8433281902_7809a6827e.jpg
Nice work. I particularly like the shaman on the boar. I'm a massive fan of greenskins though.
Nice job on the Blood Angel's gold too.
Keep 'em coming!
That thing is immense! Looks cool though and interesting to watch your videos. I like seeing how other people approach their projects.
Well, I have put the stegadon to one side for a bit. I'm waiting for some bits to arrive from the states before I can continue. In the meantime I didn't want to stop painting, so I have made a start...
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing.
If you have tried to follow the link in my last post it was broken and linking to random pictures. All fixed now.
Sorry about that!
Ah, I have such fond memories of making my BF109 as a kid.
Great idea and subscribed. Will watch with interest.
Great job. Love the goggles and I agree. The fabric on the wrap looks really soft and lovely.
A little update. I finally did a bit of basing. Just a simple job with a bit of milliput and sand, followed by some grassy tufts. Still it finishes grissel off nicely. Photo can be here in my gallery.
Cheers! Maybe I'll resize then. Thanks for the tip.
Ok, well I haven't made too much progress on the stegadon, as I had a commission job pop up. That was quite nice actually, as I've not painted...
Aha! Thanks. Here they are:
Lord of Nurgle
King's Hand
Ephrael Stern
Warrior Priest
Oh yes! I see they are 'waiting'. I'll post the links when they go live. FOr now you can always check them out on P&P.
