Wow, that is really well done. Great colors and I love the base. Welcome!

Wow, that is really well done. Great colors and I love the base. Welcome!
Moderators have come and gone but no one has been a stalwart like good old Dragonsreach.
Mike, you are an amazing person to stick with this site through all these years, doing background chores...
Very cool. You have me interested in oils now.
What a blast from the past it was to look through this thread. Looking through all the pics of the army, and seeing the names there. I really miss all you people. We'll most likely never meet in...
Definitely so, looking forward to some wonderful eye candy.
Very cool. It's like we are living in the future! See a mini, print it and paint it. Really nicely done.
Solid colors and realistic tones.
That cloak is really cool.
That's really incredible.
Hiya Marcel! This is a great hobby, and one that is filled with great people. Glad to meet you.
Oh man, that's a kick in the teeth. So sorry for your situation. Hopefully, things will get better.
Hiya Rab!
I miss the good old days of the forums and sharing our projects with one another. It always had the vibe of an art class. Facebook, while ubiquitous to everyone, just seems like a poor...
Haven't seen many of those sculpts...and I love what you've done with them! Really nicely done, as always, Agis!
Great stuff DR, glad to see you are still very prolific.
Bright and clean!
You are amazingly talented!
Trying to complete my collection of Marvel characters from Knight Models.
Want
Elektra
Thanos
Dr Octopus
Loki
Ah, I see.
Sorry, I don't have any tips for you regarding the melting and bending. I would have clipped and repositioned.
But, is there a reason you just didn't use slightly larger bases?
Very nice looking unit!
The metals really turned out well.
Post your results! I'd love to see how they come out.
Good luck.
Yes. If you allow it enough time to cure completely, it's hard enough to drill and should not crack. It also takes paint very well.
Milliput, especially the 'Fine' version also should work for...
You certainly are talented. That's a fantastic looking old school mini!
And, if you don't mind I'll be hypercritical here, as you want to seriously improve.
I think if you want to push it to...
Congrats Mike!
The only small quibble I have is the wolf's snout doesn't look as real as the rest of the wolfie.
But, this if freakin' insanely good!
That'd be a good prize!
All looking great.
My latest additions to my little project.
A recurring character in the series, Grant Jefferson is a uber rich playboy type. Great close up fighter, talented with a sniper rifle, and is filled...
Sooo...you're saying you have a thing for dragons?:wink:
That looks cool. The eye shine is nicely done.
Too bad! Kickstarters have been both boon and bane to our hobby. And, after being on some that were a bit of a mess, I can seriously relate to the frustration you can feel.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_metal
According to Wikipedia, White Metal is Christian Hard Rock.
So I think you guys are way off base.:soldier:
Thanks for the explanation folks!
Like I said, I don't really get it, but I'm glad folks do.
I'm sure some people wouldn't understand that I spend $250 dollars on a Captain America doll!! LOL
...
Just stumbled upon your thread...What great stuff in here!
Abomo-rat, Klom, and that Birch tree dude are amongst my favorites, but all of it is so inspiring.
Very helpful tutorial. I'm interesting in watching that Elf develop. The Angel from last month is incredible!
Casting is usually top notch with Knight Models.
The only downsides I have with them are
1. They have a tendency to have fiddly bits (skinny unattached arms/etc) and
2. They command a...
No problem, sorry I couldn't help.
That seems like a big pain to see how it uploads AFTER you do it....I'll still poke around and see if I can find out more info.
The success of this thing is amazing, but (like many things in life) I just don't 'get' it.
What's the big deal with it?
Why are people willing to spend what amounts to several car payments on...
Unsettling. Disturbing. Creepy.
Well done.
Oh, I see. If they didn't deliver on the promise, then I do understand his complaint.
I guess I didn't understand what Secret Template Pledge Level was.
I just bought a Badger 'Airbrush primer' specifically to use as brush on.
It works just fine....It's thin enough to easily brush on, but thick enough to stay put.
It was this one I bought....
I can't help you specifically with your request StarFyre, but I'm just glad to see an old name I recognize on the forums!
My only real thought on your problem would be to not sculpt it, but...
I can think of a couple...
One that keeps appearing in my Facebook feed is

More modern than SCI FI. But, there's some cool resin 'scatter' terrain.
Fenris Games...
Good deal!
My youngest child just had her 21st birthday...so now it's my kid's job to shield me from the horrors of the world....lol.
Actually, I still have several young nieces and nephews and I want to...
Well, bad news.
Either there isn't a way for me to do it, or I'm too dense to figure it out.
I had thought there was a way to do it, but I haven't been around for years, and it looks like the...
Hiya!
First time viewer of your impressive thread. You've got great talent! That barbarian looks like he's stepped right out of a Frazetta painting.
I watch your videos just to hear you say
"GHOOOOOLS PAINTING TIPS"
lol
In all honesty, your vids are great. Even ones that are 'basic' (like the gapfilling one) still teach me stuff.

I too was disappointed in the Sedition Wars KS, but still felt I was given what I was owed.
The game didn't pan out to be what it could have been, but that's just water under the bridge. If they...
Hi Agis!
While Simon Bradley is amongst my favorite painters, and does incredible things, your minis seem to fit right in beside them, with no discernible difference.
Maybe if I treated myself...
Hiya Schnooble,
I do believe there is, or at least used to be a way to do that for the Moderator.
I'll see if I can fix it for ya.!
Welcome!
That ninja is incredible. Just a wonderful color combination, and fantastic blending.
There you go sir.
Please continue your fantastic work!!
I can make no guarantees, but I may be able to change the title of your old thread, and merge these two? Shall I try?
If so, what name do you want it to be?
If I can't, sorry to get your hopes...
I am in love!! She's gorgeous!
That skin is so realistic. Just seriously insane amount of skill and talent you have. Kudos.
New jobs for the New Year? Good on both of ya!
I had a ton of stress from starting a new position about 5 years ago....and completely avoided my hobby. But, I finally figured out that it's a...
:beerwave:
Yep, it's a pretty foreign concept to me as well!
I've seen the movies and (better yet) I've read the books. I've enjoyed both, and think they are well done. It's a well thought out world with interesting characters and storylines.
But, all...
Yep I hear ya.
I hail from the Midwest of the US, so the desert was amazing to me as well, as well as mountains!
We spent a few days in Vegas (can't say I was overly impressed) but then drove...
So, have any that you made for your hobby?
I have resolved to not buy any new miniatures. That's going to be tough. But, I figure it will help be start appreciating my enormous and often ignored...
Welcome!
The more the merrier!
Where in the world are you from?
Fantastic stuff! You should do well with that kind of quality!!
Best of luck.
Love that action pic Mike!
Hope you had a great birthday. You are only as old as you act...:good:
I was just in Vegas and the Hoover Dam last spring. Your watercolors are very good. You capture light so well.
Hiya!
I really dig your style. You seem to use bold strong colors and the minis just POP because of it.
The first mini in your thread here really shows that off.
You know, I bought into the...
Disgustingly great.
Holy crap, those are freakin' cool.
I've not been paying attention to anything GW for quite some time, so first of all the minis are excellent...but what you've done with them makes me clap with...
That's seriously wonderful.
The base itself is just jaw dropping.
The sculpting was impressive...and it looks like the paint is going to be too.
You've got a great talent!!
holy hell, sorry about the life sized photo of Drax!
Here's my Owen Pitt, and two Versions of Agent Franks:
54459
54465
I did two versions of Franks, cuz I really didn't care for the first one. The 2nd one (much larger) is a Heroclix...
That's a pretty good work-around.
My current technique is just to make a post without the quote, leaving everyone in the dark about what the hell I'm talking about.
I certainly don't have the time or patience for taking photos.
It's a lot of work to get the setup right, lights, tripods, etc. Then as eyeayen mentions you'll have to learn about the Manual...
Of course, doing up a base is a personal choice, but I'd start with something simple, like sand.
Just spread a little glue on the base-top (avoid the sides), dip it in a bowl of sand. Let it dry,...
And some homely looking Zombies.

Heya!
A year ago or so, I began a little Project of turning miniatures into Monster Hunter International characters.
Monster Hunter International is a Urban Fantasy set of novels written by...
Is it just me?
When I use google Chrome here on the forums and QUOTE someone, my spacebar no longer works.
Soeverythingjustrunstogetherlikethis...
If I remove the quote, it works just fine....
Yep, not a fan of them either.
I can see the appeal of being more affordable, especially for those bigger kits....but the lack of quality makes them very expendable.
I agree it's a good thing...
Hope you had a great day!
The lady that sat behind us kept falling asleep as well.
I only know this because of the snoring....
I absolutely loved this movie. Best since the Originals.
I was bugged that there was...
Hi Mike!
I used to come here quite a bit, and plan on making this more of a regular hangout in 2017.
Hope to see more of you.
I like to do audiobooks, or my latest thing is to move a little table into the living room and just have the boob tube on.
I used to have a nice setup in my 'hobby room', but as I'm renovating my...
Very purdy.
Great models with great paint!
I really like your style....clean and subtle. A very cool combination.
Do you use an airbrush? Everything is so smooth.
I like the scheme. My only complaint would be that your photos are a...
Love the Canadian Cadians!
I think you've got some good looking paint skills!
The paint is a bit thick in spots, but just keep going, you're on the right track.
I'd suggest doing something...
First of all, FANTASTIC paint here. Love the construction of the diorama, the base, and the overall look of your troops.
Secondly, I was unaware of this Regiment, so looked them up on Wikipedia...
You're off to a good start.
Like the other poster said, more layers consisting of thinner paint will help. White is a very tough color to do that with, as it tends to look clumpy immediately.
...
I'd google 'Taboret'.
They are made for artists, and have plenty of drawers. The smaller ones may fit right inside your bookshelf.
The wings look great!
My solution to cold weather primer (I live in Iowa) is simply use a brush on primer, and stay inside where it's warm and dry!
I'm finding that brushing on gives me better coverage on the mini, and...
Great job. Love the skin tones, and those eyes are very expressive.
Really good, I think since you are new to this.
You've got the basics down, but I think what will really help is if you overexaggerate the contrast. Make your shade areas a bit darker, and the...
Hiya Hellboy!
Yeah, Gesso is just a primer, usually used for canvas painting.
They are all basically the same, so I think just the basic one they have would be fine.
Very nice!!
I'm not really sure how one can be on a Crusade of Truth, if partisan politics are involved. From my experience truth becomes a malleable clay ball at that point.
But, good luck!
Quick question for you Ghool. I notice you are using a two brush technique. I'm assuming you are just blending with that 2nd brush, but how much moisture do you have on that brush?
Hiya Ghool. I recognize your user name from other mini sites, and I've been a fan of your painting style for some time.
I'm looking forward to checking these tutorials out.
Lovely soldiers!
First of all, seriously well painted and modelled. The blood and sword effects are very very cool.
Top notch all around.
But, if I were to voice a small critique, it would be that the piece...
That's a LOT of blue!! Looks great, the paint is so smooth.
That's really nice. Skin tones are excellent, and I love the simple and effective way you did the base.
I've seen a few scratch built things, but can't say I've seen any commercially made products.
Cheers folks!
I did see this as well, quite a few in this line that are 'Warcraftian'.

Hiya!
I had not really gone out of my way to see this flick. The 'internet' told me it was horrible, and since my miniature interest isn't much into Fantasy nowadays, I gave it a pass.
Then,...
Much applause!
Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. In fact, the entire month of October and it's build up to Halloween is awesome.
Well done DR! I don't decorate as much as I used...
Just my two cents.
1. Better photography will help.
2. Black or brown lining. It really helps with the 'pop' factor.
After painting my models, I like to give them a nice thick coat of Black Primer. This not only protects the hell out of my minis, it also improves on the actual painting I have done.
Your results...
I know there are tons of fantastic artist's here, but these forums have a significant bent towards painting figures. I'm not sure this is the place to get your answers.
I've been using cheaters (reading glasses) for a while, but wouldn't mind trying something like the optivisors. I just have never come up with a great lighting setup, and would definitely like to...
It worked! Great job on that.
Excellent skin tones!! Do you mind sharing your recipe, especially for the top one?
Thanks for the advice folks!! I will give it a go and report back.
I really like painting miniatures. I really like putting them on line and discussing them.
I really hate photo taking.
Anyhow, my latest beef is why can't I get everything in focus in one...
inks are wonderful for glazing, however a little goes a long way. They are already super concentrated, so it's very easy to over do it with inks.
I prefer paints to do it, but what I really lack...
Resin is an awesome material that gives super detail on sculpts.
That being said, I'd take metal every day of the week, and twice on sunday.
The heft of metal alone is worth it to me. For...
Those minis are fantastically sculpted!
What a cool honor!!
You're famous on several continents.
Really top notch stuff.
Really wonderful! Love the size and the attention to detail. Great job.
Jaw dropping.
Just love the richness of color you get in your miniatures.
That repeating purple color is freakin' awesome.
I really like the color of the armor. That's spot on!
Monkey butt!!
Fantasic.
Holy Lord that is amazing.
Really digging that last guy! Very cool line.
I liked it so much, I did it 230 times.
Wheres your painted one DR?:giggle:
Wire wrapped trees, covered with a layer of milliput would work, I think.
Toothbrush.
I very much like this style. It's a more natural feel and has a realness about it.
I do think, however, that the spots on the horses are distracting, and pull me away from the realism. Maybe a...
Eye popping color! You are just an amazing painter.
Wow. Wonderfully smooth and great color!
6 pack abs on a dwarf seem strange...but they are painted well!
I really like that digi-camoflauge. Very cool.
Solid paint on a very cool mini. Nicely done.
I never heard anything about it, and I've been big into miniatures, and Starcraft from way back.
These are awesome.
I hope you can find some info out, but I'll bet they'd be worth something to...
Hiya syaped,
Two off the top of my head would be
Artizan
http://www.artizandesigns.com/
And Perry Miniatures...
It works well. Crusty, even.
Wow. Simply jawdropping. Well done.
My goodness, you certainly haven't lost any of your fantastic talent.
Just loving the blues.
Wonderfully realized! The horses are excellent/
Hiya Klaus!
I agree, once you added the lighting effect, the focal points really popped out.
Pretty epic!
Sexy! I'd like to see one painted up.
Great job on both!\
Really love that demon.
Nicely done!
Simply fantastic.
Love it. The skin tones are spot on.
That looks GREAT!
Simple colors but absolutely convincing weathering.
Well done!
Hiya!
I think the first thing I notice is that your paint is too thick. It's obscuring details.
I'd suggest thinning your paint with water, and applying several thin coats, as opposed to one...
Looks great, congrats!
I love that spider dude.
Oh~ I LOVE that Krampus.
Great job on that. Love the color of that dress/robe thing.
Amazingly well done. That dwarf has fantastic hair!
They are impressively painted, like always for you....BUT! Those bases are out of this world. Amazing stuff Mr. Wappel.
They are cute, though!
How big are those minis?
The ghost is my favorite, you did a nice job there.
Love that big gorilla, and the Raven fella.
Amazing stuff.
Lovely! Those skin tones are really cool. Nice job.
Hiya!
You've got some solid stuff in your gallery for being a relative 'newbie'. Good sense of color, and that Chaos Lord is just fantastic. Really love the weathering, and that purplish skin. ...
Decent job on these figs.
More great paint!
Fantastic paint.
Have you considered building your own?
I dig that!!
The metallics are awesome.
The limbs look kinda rubbery.
Wow! That's quality.
What's the name of the studio?
I concur, past self, I concur.
Wonderful painting, and excellent photo taking. All around well done.
Wow. Looks like a video game come to life! Well done.p
Those colors are rich and vibrant. Nicely done.
Heya! Looks great. I really dig that muted green.
Too bad you didn't get the funding. The Behemoth is really nice.
Truly amazing.
Lol. I was going to mention tweening!! Please show us some pics!!
Are you still painting Valender?
I'd watch it!
Yes, the Barbarian King are indeed the proper hands.
I'm so glad you are on the Kickstarter. I was sure this was right up your alley. I've not quite jumped on board yet, but I'm sure I will,...
Sorry, I've got no answers, but that is a seriously cool find.
Please tell me you know about that Conan Board Game Kickstarter that's going on. I remember you really were into the pure Robert...
Here is my take, first of all, I really think it's well done.
1. It's a dragon, and you, Mike are the Dragon king.
2. It's Iconic and represents the best fantasy fiction of all time.
3. ...
Jaw droppingly good.
Looking cool, but I think better pics would help.
I love your style. Crisp and clean.
Fantastic sculpts.
It's a wonderful idea! Really fun to play with.
I always wanted to have multi poses/weapons/clothing of the same character, and using your system that could be a reality!
Thats wonderful!
Kickstarters to me, are like eating at McDonalds. They all look great at first, and it's only later I realize I made a horrible mistake.
The minis and concepts seem to be very high quality. Best of luck, I'll keep watching.
The shark is cool, but the 'best female miniatures on the market' seem to be a bit of a stretch.
Seems slightly pervy to me.
Well, I'm no expert on such matters, but contrast isn't only about highlighting. And highlighting isn't just moving up the spectrum to white.
For instance, on your mini (and this could very well...
That is amazingly small.
There seems to be a chalky or dusty look or feel to it, especially on the wood and hat. Also, the contrast just isn't enough to make it pop the way it could.
I really like how you have made that metal look 'heavy'. I mean real and solid. Very cool figure.
It's well done. Very high quality.
What a fantastic army!
I agree, that base is awesome.
I'd love to see them painted... I think that pinkish color of the sculpting material really detracts from the details.
Looked, voted, and was impressed.
x2.
lol
That's really great. Very well done.
