Lovely work mate
Cracking work mate :good:
Welcome to the forum :)
I recommend you attached the mini your working on to a holder of some sort, like a mini vice, old paint pot, wine cork etc
will stop paint going on your fingers then onto...
Thanks all.
Ha ha, Yes stefan and I've been looking more and more like him lately!
More wip on demon and because it was raining all day Saturday I sightly converted a heroquest ork. Been...
Great painting, especially like the face
This is looking fantastic!!!!!!
Nice work. A bit of rust or dirt around the metals on his boots I reckon :good:
I'd also (I know it's at a late stage in the painting) be tempted to drill out the gun barrel
Cracking team mate, the warm pallet of skin and reds work brilliantly:good:
Thanks all, more wip of the handsome fellow.
76776
Great face:good:
You've really caught life in the eyes.
Perfect mini choice for your Metallics:good:
Bravo !
I especially like the muted reflections in the nmm steel :good:
Also love the little birdy :)
Thanks :)
Adding the under layers of the skin , thought I'd show them building up.
76764
Welcome back :)
very good work, clean and sharp :good:
On the armour a few more progressions of darker greys or a wash or two of black just to tone down the step in the blends.
:in-love::love::love:
Standout colour scheme, it goes well against the pale skin
Congrats mate. Flat looks fantastic :good:
Thanks all :)
more wip, trying for a mix of ‘lifelike’ and fantasy. I’m finding fenris grey added to the skin colour is a good highlight. All still wip.
76506
Mike I’m surprised your body hasn’t washed up on a beach somewhere! :doctor::terror:
Bloody well done mate. Wish I’d had been there :(
Nice green skin tones :good:
Well done mate :good:
From my experience if the mini doesn’t grab you from the start it’s always going to be a struggle to finish or even give 100%
Thanks all. Orks nearly finished and some wip on bust
7636476365
Looking mighty fine :good:
Very nice. Stefan you have left the eyebrows on the hat !
Congratulations Mike :good:
Great to see you back matey, can not believe it’s been two years !
Fantastic base work as usual.
Thanks all :)
graishak, no thanks mate two are enough for me !
more wip on yellow orc.
755077550875509
Well done matey :good:
Used w&n series 7 for ten years then started to get disappointed with their hit and miss quality. Then by chance found the world of dental brushes. Very hard to get, expensive but supreme quality....
Welcome. Good advice from the others :good:
To add, remember prep work is vital for a well painted mini. Make sure you remove all the flash and mold lines before you start :)
The deep shadows on the skin and mouth really make the mini ‘pop’ :good:
Big project! Will follow with interest:)
Nice work mate, the greens of the base contrasts well against the yellow jacket.
Thanks all :)
Orc on piggy, still wip in places.
75219
Great to see your work mate, how’s things?
Fantastic mate :good:
especially like the leathers and the glass effects
Thanks all :)
Nearly finished red ork, yellow orc is having a repaint as I'm not happy with the yellows.
75134751357513675137
Well at least we know where to go if we need a dragon. You’ve got them all !
You’ve kept a high standard of painting throughout the set of miniatures :good:
Quality work as usual mate :good:
Congrats on the bronze :good:
Thanks :)
More wip. I hate painting red but I enjoy the challenge of it too.
7498374984
Love these, they have a great balance of real nature and fantasy
More wip on the orc duel
74915
Fantastic:good:
Thanks all :)

Comp was compact but of a good standard of entries.

The plinth/base is working well with a good balance and symmetry with the only exception is the one...
You’ve caught a life like stare in his face which works well with the characters stance.
Bravo sir. Excellent blends and lighting :good:
Thanks all. Well the powers that be at GW have sprung a new mini painting competition at the Aos event next weekend. So over the last month I’ve had fun painting a skeleton to enter. I’ve also made a...
Very impressed with this :good:
Bloody creepy , great work :good:
a chap I worked with said the same about drinking a bottle of scotch a night ;)
Congratulations mate. Have to say the photo looks like a movie set in the future, with both of you as cyborgs lol ;)
Looking forward to the bases :good:
Nice work, especially like the aged skin on his hands. :good:
Nice concept and execution :good:
Congratulations on the demon :good:
Well done matey
Back from euro miniature expo. Had a great weekend meeting my friends and had a massive laugh staying at Andy's playing heroquest and watching movies. Just for a moment we felt like free men !
...
He is scared of needles ! :)
Love all the details mate and very impressed with the banner :good:
Liking the colour pallet your using. Some of these new gw minis are great but my God they look a epic commitment to paint !
Very standout and effective colours and a high standard over all the minis. :)
Very good painting, clean and sharp :good:
Start a WIP thread so people can give tips and advice as the miniature progresses.
My first tip is prepping the miniature, get rid of all those pesky mold lines.:good:
A high standard tut. :good:
Imo I would leave out the glaze of bloodletter at the end, it took away the nice blends and left tide marks.
90% done just a few tweaks needed.
73336
Scale75 autumn/fall green (same colour) is very close
I always use just water with a tiny drop of dish soap added.
Warm yellows work well with the cold blues. :good:
Welcome :)
Regarding the white robes, as the armour is a cold blue I would suggest a warm white for contrast. Instead of trying to shade the base white down try to layer up from a very light tan...
I can't believe my eyes!! I do believe this is the first dragon I've seen you paint in years, which is incredible seeing you own ALL the blasted dragons in the galaxy. :rotfl:
Fantastic start Mike...
Ekipage got mine for £13 same as a w&n series 7.
Cyanide yes dont know what that nonsense is about either? I'm quite happy with the brush, very light weight and keeps a perfect point at the...

73078
Lovely painting, it has a 'warm' feel running through the entire colour scheme :good:
Thanks both. No matter how good you are, theres always better !
8 hours in and what a joy to paint, been a messing with tones, yellows towards the top of the head, reds middle, very dark blues ...
Cheers all. Bronze was for orcs.
Tinkerbell got to finals and got a honorable mention during the awards but got outclassed by some top painters. :worship:
I've started painting this ugly mug to...
Thanks all. Salute went well, got three finalists and a bronze:)
Great meeting up with friends, congrats all the winners. I'm starting to love salute more than GD , never thought I'd be saying...

72569
Nice work, love the toadstools :)
One and three i do hundreds of times a week at work.
It's part of the company policy !
Thanks both :)
Dexter ive taken a few photos of the pin. The legs seem strong enough for the mini so it's just a case of a firm bond between them.
Very very tiny drill bit for a small hole vertical...
Outstanding mate, I especially like the material effects :good:
Don't know why but I keep thinking star trek !???
Cheers both.
I've finally got round to putting slambo up on the gallery :)

I still own the game from when I was 10 years old!
I've been planning on re- painting the miniatures to a good standard for years and nows the time :)
Thanks, blood effect done with Tamiya Mini X-27 Clear Red
Rainy Saturday afternoon cheered up with another HQ mini :)
72327
As you say a massive improvement over the two years. :good:
On the skin, the 'step' between layers is harsh, focus on smoother blending to get a nice event graduation.
Heads named Stefan :)
Thanks all :)
Blood!!!
72255
Glorious puss filled painting! John blanche through and through :good:
More wip. Skin colours used are base of tallard flesh, blended up with elf flesh then using scale 75 arabic skin with some dark flesh and reds to shade down with glazes. Highlights made up from elf...

You can use just normal grease proof paper, I found the purpose made wet palette paper slightly better though.
Ebay search etc for some. I can't think of the manufacturer at the moment !?
Great reds !
Thanks all.
More WIP. Been working on the little brass bell in NMM. very challenging shape but all good fun :)

Post golden demon update after the above disaster.
Good news out of tradegy as I got a commendation for my fleet officer, seeing he was never going to be entered and the single category (as usual)...
No chance of repair, it's totalled. Especially with only two days to go :(
