Thanks for all the helpful comments. I always needed a bit more contrast to my work, i guess this is another clear case of it. Im still working on smoother blending too. Thanks all :D
Well i have been trying to go for more contrast in my painting, improving my NMM, blending and trying to be more patient with my painting. I think with this techmarine i have learnt alot about my own...
So i\'ve really been trying to improve my skills and take my time with both the blending and the detail i put into a model. This model took me about 10 days or so to paint and im actually really...
i just wanted to thank you for your informative reply in the forums. I thought i recognised some of the example articles shown. To be honest i have been looking at ways to improve my painting, but i...

Hi all,

I tend to concur with SJB here, altho there is a more limited opportunity for conversions with the bfsp goblins they are really nice models and i thoroughly enjoyed painting them. Also with the...
This isn\'t really a short cut since you\'re starting at trainee level, and tbh i think it takes someone of strong passion to be able to make a living from something they enjoy as a hobby.
There...
Hello boys, girls and others. I have been busy trying to improve my nmm and trying to get my blending alot smoother so i managed to these models. I was hoping if i can get some constructive criticism...
Very cool, those sorts of things rate highly in my books along with ice sculpting :) when i saw someone do an ice sculpt i was just stunned.
Hehe just tell the customs officials that she is your translator :) ;)
I want to thank everyone here for their support, your comments are really helpful and i think it might be time for me to try something different, maybe try something more fleshy than \"armour-y\"...

Hey everyone,
i wasn\'t sure if this is the right place to post this:

Hey all, i have had these black templars for a while and i originally collected them for my brother but he has no interest now and so they\'ve never been used but i\'d like to sell the whole lot as...
Actually i have to agree, after finding out they\'re releasing 5th ed and not completing all the armies out there yet im sticking with 4th ed but put it all on the backburner and go onto warmachine....

Well after being quite lazy here is another addition to my dwarves a thane. A nice model definately, although i found when i finished highlighting the cloak i was left with a glossy sheen to it....
Well i\'ve finally completed another regiment of night goblins. The blue shields work well in contrast with my first night goblin regiment. I also tried for the first time in my life a rust effect on...
I love the gobbos, its cool to see such nicely converted goblins. Can\'t wait to see more, keep up the good work mate.
Well i\'ve heard Testor\'s Dull Cote mentioned before, although i\'ve never tried it, it seems highly recommended. Honestly i dont want a glossy finish so i think i\'ll avoid ardcoat for now,...
lol ok, don\'t worry i haven\'t gone out to purchase any yet. I like to do some research on everything before i start it. Thanks for the loud warning and advice ;) :D
Heh thanks for the comment although im hoping GW\'s ardcoat varnish will protect them enough, unless someone else can recommend a spray on varnish which works well. Plus because they are plastics...
Well its 4/10ths of a regiment finished, heres a little sneak peek, with the blue moon on the shields as shown, i took this as a rush job with an old camera so bear in mind the flash is on.
...
Another awesome piece dude, i love the worn/weathered rust effects on the metal, i think my only comment on it would be maybe darker shading imo for a better contrast. But its still looking great,...
Thanks so much for the comment, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, although i have to say painting the bfsp boxed set is really fun all the models are nice and simple to do. Plus hive mate i...
Consider doing eliptical eyes rather than round pupils etc, more like cat ones? maybe that could evil them up a bit, or rather whites in the eyes ave yellow or red? bright colours really contrast...
Well when i painted my nightlords i started with enchanted blue base colour and highlighted up using white. The thing to bear in mind is to keep the progressive highlights within and smaller than the...
Ah, no nothing like that just a crappy table lamp. And the reason its so shiny is that i had to use the flash on my camera because the light i normally use for taking images is broken so i wasn\'t...
naked eye :) btw what do you mean by viewing aid? a reference of some sort? I only needed a reference once for the snake/serpent symbol straight from the uk GW site just so i knew what the symbol...

Well after getting a little bored from doing a rank and file group of models i thought i\'d paint something i had lying around. The detail is all free hand and i wanted to get more used to watering...
Both looking great, i really like the new vlad model. Nice to get a glimpse at the new releases :). I like the smooth blending and the dark feel you give your models.
Well i\'ve never seen those models before but they look awesome, even bubblegum :D The paint job looks good and as a collection they work really well together :) keep up the good work. I think my...

if using baking paper for the \"diy\" wet palette, greaseproof or non- ? i\'ve got the materials to make one now and been too lazy to start it properly, now seems a good time.
Strange but yet so true, i was the same, took a break when i was about 12-13 since i didn\'t play much and wasn\'t good at painting and started again when i was 24-25 and im loving the painting...
both models as others have pointed out are from Chronopia, the main rulebook actually has full colour images of both the ones you have shown.
There are some full colour images on this site plus...
the blue weapons really pick out from the models and add colour, its more noticeable on this unit than your normal marine units. Awesome job mate, keep it up.
yea it made them seem that way to me too. Maybe i\'ll put some snow on the base. Got any tips on snow effect for bases?
Well i\'ve started work on some dwarves, heres a sneak peek at some of them.

Well the way i did the patterns was for every file i would have a specific pattern and then i just mixed them up, as for regiment distinguishing marks i was thinking maybe changing the colour of the...
Those demons look really cool, they have a real grotesque feeling about them which is what nurgle models need. Great job mate, your sculpting is top notch.
Thanks for the encouragement and votes, anyway i\'ve always said that i refuse to play with any models which are unpainted plus i don\'t play much so collecting and painting the models is the reward...
the model is so cool, it has alot of character and the painting is smooth and clean, its a great piece :) great job:beer:
Another update, i finished the whole regiment now, it looks so cool i love staring at them. There\'s always some sort of satisfaction with completing a rank and file regiment :)
...

Thanks alot for the feed back :) but im still working on my NMM technique, i still find it quite difficult. With my dwarves im going for purely metallic paints i think and practicing using glazes....
Heres the leader of the regiment, i thought i\'d add some extra detail to this model. inspired by joe\'s mage i wanted to put some stars detail on the large blank areas of the model.
...
Well i\'ve always wanted some fantasy battle models, somehow i love the rank and file and nicely lined up regiments plus i wanted to start learning the rules too. What better way than to get the...
ah ok, im actually using the very very old GW glazes and i noticed the shine effect from the inks, i don\'t normally water down my paints to be used as inks but might try that instead, thanks for the...
not to sound like im completely ignorant, but what is an OTT light?
its a great piece but a question. Whenever i use glazes the surface i\'ve glazed has a shine/sheen to it any suggestions to reduce this effect? or maybe something is wrong with my glaze/technique?
Thanks for the replies, if you check out my most recent model, a swooping hawk from GW you will notice the shine on the model, which isnt a coat of varnish but actually the wet blending glossy effect...
I have recently started trying out a wet blending technique which is difficult in itself as i am just testing and experimenting without any lessons etc, but i use water only to thin down my paints...
