Wow, I love these. How did you achieve that metal on the Unsullied?

Wow, I love these. How did you achieve that metal on the Unsullied?

I'm not as experienced as many players here, but I would go with option 2. Styr's influence + Giants is very powerful combo, and followers of Bone are a great place to put the weeper.
I would then...
I agree with your "no neutral commanders in non neutral armies" but I might change it to just limit the armies they can command similar to your neutral loyalty mechanic.
For example, it makes...
Looks like a solid list. What worked and didn't work so well? What did you pick for the skinchangers?
Yeah, I think that giving neutral only armies a boost is a fine approach. I think the easiest way to do this is simply allowing more points. So for example, a neutral only army could play a 43 point...
Yeah, I honestly regret buying the Bloody Mummers. I think they will be fun to paint, but they sure seen crummy for the points..
The tactics deck is weak, but like Autumn Leaves said, we have really strong attachments.
I've been playing around with a couple lists where I stick in 2-3 Chosen of Styr (best attachment we've got...
FF were really built to be a hoard army, but if you want to go elite you need a copy of Followers of Bone and Heroes one at a minimum.
This will let you run a two giant plus Bonelords chosen list...
I see what you guys are saying, but I'm not convinced.
Couldn't you also interpret the wolf as being the unit with the ability? So the wolf ability triggers separately for each wolf just like how...
If I place two skinchanger wolves on a single enemy unit would they take two wounds for every 1 rolled on defense?
Is this something that can happen multiple times like Cut Them Down or is it...
Nice work! I can't wait to see more. I like your Varys and Jorah in particular.
Easy friend, no need to come out swinging like that. Lots of the people here are new, and even if they aren't we don't need to get a up in people's faces over differences of opinion.
Having more...
I haven't played with them yet, but I pre-ordered two boxes of skin changers. I feel like they give Raiders tremendous flexibility.
Yep! That is much better!
I haven't run three in any games yet but I plan to in my next game. I feel like the more your opponent relies on tactics cards to drive their game play, the more valuable 3 NCUs are.
Basically many...
I haven't played against Frey, but he is clearly unhealthy for the game, and his ability should be modified. Double dealer that he is, using his ability should cause wounds or damage to your own...
I'm a Free Folk player and I think that 4+ giant lists are pretty cheesy. I certainly think that Baratheons and Targaryens don't currently have enough released to deal with them properly.
The giant...
Well, big Oof to Cavedwellers with the 1.5 updates. They likely won't get a bonus until the third round of combat if they charge a unit alone.
What do you guys think? Styr went up a point, but is...
I think that is a really good idea. I'd be totally fine with Boltons getting unique faction cards when they are not being used as mercs.
Honestly they are still a great unit. They will be rolling eight dice on a three up for the majority of the game. You have to cause 18 hits to even take them down one rank!
They get a free maneuver...
I think trappers are absolute garbage. You might get to use traps 2-3 times a game for a whopping 4-6 wounds. Their short range bows are terrible.
For one more point you can get Followers of Bone!...
Frankly, I think the changes were balanced. Even in an all Bolton list they were so clearly superior to other options.
I hope we see more diverse cavalry options on the table. Thematically, the...
With the new changes a giant should reliably delete a rank every time he attacks.
My only concern is that multiple Savage Giant lists seem like a setup that takes a low skill floor to implement, but a high skill floor to know how to counter, which is the mix that puts new people...
There is some really good advice in the State of the FreeFolk thread.
Harma attachment just gives you a free maneuver, so you can easily get two maneuvers on a giant (lady Val NCU) before he...
This does make taking a Savage Giant very tempting.
I just hope they managed to find a good balance where we don't start seeing 4-5 giant lists again.
I'm no hardened veteran like Autumn Leaves or others, but I think all the Champions of Bone would be better off as Chosen of Styr.
The number of wounds you will restore don't justify the price,...
Thank you, sorry I didn't check that before posting!
The hidden traps order says "when an unengaged enemy within long range moves"
Does this mean trappers can trigger the order when the enemy moves into long range as part of their move
or not?
...
What faction are you playing Devlin? Anything that does auto wounds will work, you've got scorpions if you are playing Night's Watch.
Daario Naharis in a unit with crit blow could really chomp a...
With Rattleshirt you have to focus on spiking damage in order to trigger his cards.
This means you need lots of units capable of destroying a rank.
Here is one option;
RATTLESHIRT RUMBA
...
It makes a lot of sense, I guess I just never considered the name of a unit to have game meaning.
Really? This seems very surprising. This would mean I've been building my Clegane Lannister lists at a big disadvantage.
All of the Mountain's Men count as Clegane units? I'm not sure I believe it.
If I put Daario Naharis in a unit of Mountains Men, my understanding is that his order (reckless strikes) would cause two hits that don't allow defense saves on sixes(because MM have critical blow)....
Nice work. You may try adding a little white to the ends of the feathers on the banner or some brown stripes to make them look a little more natural.
Dark blue can also be used to highlight the...
Try making them a more muted red, like a deep brick red, closing in on brown.
That color should work with the yellow green jacket.
Thank you! I've found it very helpful to line then up with one sculpt per row while painting so I can make sure I'm not making them too samey.
I really wish each box came with four sculpts rather...
WIPs. C&C always always welcome. Don't know why pictures are blurry here, if you click on them you can go to much better versions. I'll try to fix some other...
I'm thinking of trying out this list:
Bonelords chosen + Rattleshirt
Savage Giant
4 units of Raiders, 1 with Chosen of Styr and one with Harma (commander)
3NCUs
Mance (plopping out a weakened...
New article about Bonelords chosen. One more attack die per rank 2-3 plus swapping out prey on fear for cut them down.
They can also now be fielded with Rattleshirt as an attachment (not just...
So what are the things you guys think should be debuffed in NW to improve balance across factions? This would also increase inter faction balance as well by decreasing the gap between top performers...
I agree this had a chance to increase list diversity, and helps promote balance within the NW, but it does so by simultaneously decreasing the balance between NW and other factions.
See this...
This seems a bit like polishing the Ferrari to me. Out of curiosity, who were NW struggling against? Starks?
NW easily seemed like the 2nd best army from my limited experience.
I think making...
He would lose his mighty swing ability, but not his "Giant" ability.
I would go with a fuschia or bright yellow tunic/overcoat thing for him to match with the pants.

That is a very rough (sorry on mobile) version of what I mean.
That is from a website...
Really nice. Love Osha in particular.
I don't know if you are open to cc, but Syrio's pants just don't match with his tunic to my eyes. Blue and green are hard to get right together.
Scariest guys in pink the world has ever seen. Nice clean painting. Thanks for sharing!
Really great first effort, you should be proud! The backpacks and bedrolls in particular turned out great.
A couple tips:
Use a lot of contrast medium, and do two thin coats rather than one,...
Really nice. Love the color variety.
I like the studded Doublet guy as well. I don't really like the sculpt on tactical rock guy. He looks more like he is singing than fighting.
Yeah, that Warden sculpt is amazing. I don't play Starks, but I bought the box anyways in part for that sculpt.
Nice, I really like Mance's cloak. It is too bad he is such a lackluster commander for FreeFolk.
I'm working on these exact same minis, so thanks for the inspiration.

Followers of Bone now get Vicious! I think this makes them very attractive as an anvil unit.
They'll suffer...
I'd love to see Mammoths! But I don't know if they are in the books (I think CMON'S license is book only)
Thanks for the replies guys.
Retreating out of combat to continue to hold an objective and trying to force enemy objective holders to take a flank charge are both good tips.
With the plus one to...
I feel like I'm most games I have played, the choice is: Claim an objective and get charged OR Wait and charge the unit that claimed the objective.
My trouble is that if I claim an objective and...
Their distribution isn't great in the US either (although likely better than Europe and Canada).
It is a huge pain to have tons of things that are just impossible to find. Umber Greataxes, Neutral...
Nice! Glad to hear that you are enjoying the new options another core box gives you!
Being able to use turbo ( double free maneuvers) to get up to objectives quickly does seem like a win.
Giants...
Do you find table size influences the games tactics or army play styles? As a Free Folk played I wouldn't be able to even deploy my army on a three point table
I'm curious what size tables most of you use when you play.
In my experience smaller tables (like a 4x4) tends to benefit elite armies like the NW because they can use the edge of the table to...
Congrats Stonehorse! Glad you had fun!
Hmmm, interesting! I wonder what these are?? I'll always pay money for more sculpt variety.
I really like the Night's Watch Ranger Hunters (love those bedrolls on their backs).
Sworn Brothers also have some of the coolest two handed sword poses I've seen in miniature.
The Umber...
I feel like she should at least let you count as controlling the horse zone for tactics card purposes... But the power of an extra maneuver will likely become more clear as I play more games. Styr is...
Interesting. As a newbie I find the FreeFolk NCUs to be very weak. Lady Val for example feels like she should only cost two points! Some of this may come from the fact that I rarely play against...
@Stonehorse, I don't have much experience, but if you want to increase the amount of damage that your Giants are doing, I have had a lot of success with taking Styr as an NCU and giving them the Fury...
I would love to hear Autumn Leaves tips about lists and line setups with FreeFolk that work against NW, where I really struggle.
I agree the changes to panic help out the FreeFolk, but the changes...
Thank you. They still seem op with Pypar, but at least they don't have a silly "can shoot 360 degrees" when charged rule...
Love the barn door guy. I also like the scythe better than the weird stick thing with the hollow stone that guy normally has.
Nice to see some variety in the giants! Good conversion.
Looking really good man, keep posting! Inspiring to see so many painted up.
I've played 4 games with Free Folk under the 1.5 rules over the last week. At 50 point games of Game of Thrones scenario I beat the Night's Watch twice, once close and once pretty convincingly. At...
If the Nights Watch Builder Crossbowmen are charged by an enemy in their flank LOS arc, do they get to use the "Ready! Aim! Fire!" order? It says they can make a ranged attack against the unit...
