Greetings all,
Circumstances dictate that I need to start selling off some of my collection. Here's a list of what I've got, along with some pictures. I will add additional pictures if needed. All...
that would actually be a really good idea!
definitely! finished all the detail work last night...just gotta do some last minute sanding, and then priming! I want to paint the base to look like a long deserted castle/town gate...cant figure...
Added some additional details...still feels like it's missing something (aside from plant materials)..still have to fill in some gaps
81190
for sure!!
Me too!! lol
Getting old projects ready for painting...all still WIP

Dang man! Look at that face!! Excellent! You really have improved!
@ ekipage - Thanks! Definitely gonna do one with a peg leg and probably a hook - I'll make that one look a little more "nautical" themed. Will do one with a brace of pistols, one with a custom...
Swords sharpened! Still WIP of course...

Thanks! I'm actually gonna convert a 5 man group into fantasy pirates lol..I caught the conversion bug! Here's another one I'm doing! Working on the swords as I type this! I felt like the swords were...
@ ekipage: Shaking the paints was definitely one of my issues..thanks!
@Guawol: Thanks for the advice! Will have to check out the Liquitex products. Water certainly seems to thin the paint down...
Hey all...been trying to paint lately, and I'm using scale 75 and reaper paints.. have a problem though... I'm using a Redgrass Games wet palette, and my paints are going on the model too grainy....
Thanks so much for your search! not sure about maxytechc either...could be a reproduction... as much as I like saving money, I don't like supporting intellectual property theft lol
@ gorb: Thanks :) Definitely going with the tattered flag in the background..I like the idea :) Will allow me to design an ork "jolly roger" flag.
@ SaintToad: haha thanks! :) big gunz seem to be...
Thanks! :)
Thanks for the feedback so far :)
I edited the flag out to see if I like it better, and I do. However, I feel like something needs to be added to give this guy a "freebooter" vibe. I will likely...
I actually found that one last night! But they don't ship to the US :(
So apparently this mini is no longer available, and I missed my opportunity to get one... I REALLY want to get one, so if you have a copy you're willing to part with, please PM me. Thanks!
80663
Here's my first conversion for this contest I'm doing..not likely to finish in time..as always, but meh..at least it's got me building and converting some models!
original for reference

Hey all...so I decided to join a kitbash competition on IG that ends on Oct. 10..the theme is "character evolution." I decided to do a freebooter ork that progresses from a simple raider to some kind...
@ bullfrog - that's the idea! :)
@ekipage - definitely!
@ Gorb - thanks for the input! I'm working on adding a lot of the details and will have an update soon :)
Right?! One of the cool things about this hobby...one model can inspire a whole range of interpretations!
Hey all, thank for the feedback!
I should have clarified that this base is in the very early stages of building (no colors/priming yet). The center part is actually gonna be a river, and there...
@ Flaming Tiki - Thanks!! I think this is gonna be a basing WIP log for a while lol...
And with that, a basing question!
Does this look like "too much" base for the miniature? Its one of the...
@ SaintToad - LOL...you said wapperjawed
Thanks all :)
Been inactive a little bit on here, but still creating! Got a couple more bases done, and even started making my own plinths...best one I've made so far below! Enjoy :)

Damn good looking marine! And a great base!!
right on, thank you both! Both youtube channels have a ton of stuff!
Hey all... does anyone know of a good resource (tutorial/video/article) on how to paint the "heavy metal" style? I'm considering painting my 40k army that way, but I'm not sure if it's a technique...
definitely! Just a matter of time :giggle:
@ gorb - thanks! Hope to start on the model soon!
@ Dexter0015 - thanks! I didn't realize how putting projects together like that helps show you your own progress. I'm liking the improvement lol :)
Thanks! Tried to get a dusty finish, but wasn't exactly on point. Will know what to do differently next time though.
dang man...you've gotten really good!
Started to paint a little...im ok with it..lighting for the pic not that great..feedback always appreciated :)

Here's a group shot of my projects..

Thanks! :)
Been a while again... lots going on in the world keeping me busy and drained... but, still making some basic bases here and there to practice painting techniques.
Here's a small desert base I made...
Thanks! Pretty much painting for myself at this point, and may try my hand at some competitions that aren't as competitive as Golden Demon. But still, would rather hone my skills in a way that can...
WOW Thanks!!! This is gonna help a ton!!! Thank you!!!
@ Dexter0015 - makes perfect sense. I was definitely having that issue with losing the miniature in the scene because some base elements were too big or too tall. Thanks for the input!
@ Coyotebreaks - Thanks :) I'm really liking it too!
Have a question though; Is there a good base to miniature ratio to use when deciding the size of a base compared to the mini? Some of the ideas...
@ SaintToad - Thanks!!
@Dexter0015 - hahaha you understand! :) Mini prep is always a drag too lol
@ ten ball and gorb
Thanks very much!! One or two more to build and I'll start painting them!
I can't seem to stop making bases... I think I'm gonna build a small batch of bases and prep models to paint together...that way I'll have some variation in projects.
79303 79304 79305 79306
Brilliant little base sir!
Looks great man! Really great improvement in your skills!
Said it once, will say it again.... I LOVE the grot bomber piece! Absolutely LOVE IT!
The jungle base!! THE JUNGLE BASE!!!!! WOW!!!
Loving this new base! Love how it frames both minis and how it forces a perspective in a great way! Definitely inspiring some ideas for me!! Well done!!
cool, thanks
@ Sik Willy - HAHAHAHA!! Thanks! Got me motivated!!
Was playing around with some basing materials this evening, and thought I'd try an experiment with GW's Stirland mud; wanted to see what kinda...
Same..hopefully I won't end up hating it.
Sure does! I've been using Games Workshop's primer ever since I started painting really. But, I'd like to give airbrush primers a chance, as I the think the added control you can have with the...
Another minor update: Finished basing, finally primed it. All the little pins are to remind me where I drilled holes for plant materials :rotfl:
79003 79004 79005
Might actually start painting...
Item sold; no longer available. Thanks... not sure how to delete the thread.
Looking to sell a large Warhammer 40k chaos army. A lot is partially assembled/primed/painted to some degree. There are a lot of models that aren't painted or assembled too. See the breakdown and...
@ Flaming Tiki - Thanks! I will definitely go back to painting the knight guy. Getting this basing bug outta me first >_< :rotfl:
Quick update; just added rocks and dirt. Still need to add plants, rivets, and some other details if I can think of any.
78903
@ Dexter0015 - Thanks! I actually am going for a desert type vibe :giggle: but with some plants added. The colors of the environment will include browns, tans, and reds, with splashes of color here...
That base looks awesome!!
Here's an update - extended the height of the antenna, and added some curved cabling to better frame the mini. Still WIP. Let me know what you think! Thanks!
78868
Thanks for the instruction/color list :)
@ Dexter0015 - I think additional height is a good idea.
@MAXXxxx - thanks for the suggestions.. I'll try to add additional height to the antenna.. the base in general will look more lively once I...
Dang man you've gotten good!! That ax head is perfect!! Would love to learn how to paint steel like that! I know you said you aren't doing a tutorial for it, but can you share the colors you used?...
Really liking the Tyranid diorama! Nice job so far!
WOW...6 months flew by... not much hobbying in those 6 months. Went through some projects and had to scrap a few that I have no motivation to finish. Tried to get back into it with a new project, and...
Hey sorry for the late response.. have been off CMON for a while. Thank you for the information. I thinking taking some classes on color and painting might help me, as I don't really understand how...
Dumbfounded by that jungle base... can't even begin to understand how to make something that epic...
By chance do you have a background in art? What resources did you use to progress so quickly?...
Love the base and the background!
Base is looking great! Keep it up!
Absolutely love that broken bridge dio that's in progress - may just have to replicate such an idea :D! The Minotaur piece is truly unique and well executed as well!
Absolutely agree! Hoping to get some painting in on Monday... too many hobbies (not just model projects) going on at the same time lol...
Sam Lenz is far more talented than I am, that's for sure lol.. unfortunately it looks like I won't be going. But it's all good..it'll allow me to spend some time on the model and paint it well as I...
Sik Willy and ekipage: Thanks for the luck :) So far, it doesn't look like I'm gonna make it to the comp, but still gonna try. All of life's little hassles keep getting the way of painting time lol....
Just saw pictures of your snotling pump wagon boat..hilariously genius idea!!! did you ever finish it?? would that I were as creative as you! lol
that's intense!
After my blunder with the OSL wizard :disapointed:, I thought I would just paint a simple model for my upcoming competition..only about a week away!! :nailbiting!: I chose a male knight from dark...
Awesome, thanks!
Excellent! Hope everything was intact. Thanks again for the purchase!
Sure do! PM me if you're interested :)
Demigods Evolution - High Elder has been sold.
So complicated!! lol
Thanks for the tip sir! An additional question... do you only paint the color of the light over the grey, or do you paint the color of the stone, and then add the color of the lights? The process...
That'd be cool! I haven't been there in a while, so it'll be nice to go. The competition I'm hoping to enter will be the following Saturday.
NICE!! I'm in Montrose! Did you know there's a Hobby Club in Burbank called the Los Angeles Miniaturist Society (LAMS)? They meet once a month to share hobby stuff..pretty cool :)
Thanks for the kind words :) I may redo the stone and the step colors.. I do like the color of the dirt. Airbrushing the lights and darks is a good idea. I'm just not sure if you're supposed to color...
Thanks for the suggestion Gorb. Not sure what I'm gonna do:(
Here's another progress shot... tried to brighten it up and add a little color... it's not really working out... thinking of restarting...
Hey sir,
Likin the forest base a lot! I would recommend brass etched ferns. Those work the best for me because they can be bent into different shapes, and look real nice when painted. I got some...
Here are some pictures of what I was able to paint... didn't paint nearly as much as I was supposed to, and it didn't come out at all how I wanted... trying to get the piece to look cold, even though...
I kept getting a "forbidden" message when I tried to post with the links. After I removed them, it worked.
Thanks :) and welcome back!! so far, the painting is not going too well :[
Thanks all! Hoping to get some paint on it today.
@ Lone Lemming.. PMed you a list of where I got the bits... apparently I can't post links on the message board.
Thanks guys! Looking forward to your feedback on the painting!
@ gorb: Yep! You're right on the money :) hahahah!
Hey everyone...
So it's been over two years since I've posted, let alone painted anything, and I really want to jump back into miniature painting and become a better painter. I've spent the last...
List has been updated.
Beautiful! Especially love the tree!
Death is now sold.
Well, I've come to the point of having to start selling some of my minis...I hate that I have to sell some of the rare ones...since I can't believe I even got to own them..but oh well..my loss is...
I'm trying this verdigris SBS! Really looks great and sounds super simple! Thanks for sharing!
freakin awesome! Thanks for doin this!!
Not bad at all sir, not bad at all..though if I may, I would suggest adding a bit more variation in the length of the foliage used..just a bit of course, so as to not obscure the view of the...
Sup man! been a while! Not that I'd be going (even though I'd REALLY want to!), you should do an academy class on how you painted Brom... that model amazes me every time I see it! Especially the...
Thank you good sir! Will definitely be trying it out. Hope to see you at LAMS soon! :)
Wow the weathering on the shoulder armour is astounding! Did you write up a tutorial for that by chance? I would love to learn how to do that! Oh! and the beard!!
DUDE! your rock work is amazing! I never understood how you do it! so realistic! Need tutorials!
Bloody brilliant sir! You have far too much talent...share some with us peasant painters won't you m'lord?? lol the mini looks great! way better than the original! And the sculpting of the horns...
from one project butterfly to another, I totally understand! lol :D
No doubt! But wait!! What about your pirate diorama with the dwarf, monkey, and ork??
yep... stealing this one too!!!! Just to be clear, the blue-green and blue-violet glazes are for the shadows right?
David, you sir, are a GENIUS!!!! Btw, those bikes are GORGEOUS!!!
I think this time, I have to agree with DR to an extent. Not sure what the "entertainment" or "artistic" value of these models are. They are rather pornographic, especially #8-12. Personally, would...
Definitely something to use in the future when I actually pick up a brush again :( Thank you!
You sir, are a model genius! Love the idea! Where did you end up finding a dirt bike??! It almost looks military. What if instead of trophy collecting, he went scavenging for gas for the bike, so...
Looking awesome so far David! Really love the pre-weathering and approach you took to the model. He indeed looks like a guy long out in the wild, scrounging up whatever armour he can find during his...
Wow amazing talent! What a comeback from being away from the hobby for so long! Color me impressed!! Especially with that base! Looks like concrete that has been weathered for ages!
Absolutely love the new version of Slambo's base! Did you glaze the colors over the original grey base or was it some other color scheme? Care to share the recipe? Would love to try a similar effect...
To kind of echo what has already been said... Scale75, Andrea, Ares Mythologic/Draconnia, War Griffon Miniatures, Nuts Planet, Galapagos, Kabuki, Enigma (now OOP), Scibor, amongst others, all have...
Looking to finish up my collection of OOP models. If you have these and are willing to part with them, please PM me! Thanks!!
TGB Miniatures Blacksmith Bust

Black Crow Miniatures...
definitely loving your style!! Super impressed on how you can go from a base coat of blue to AWESOME!! :)
64093
Looking for this guy Bjorn the Hunter from Micro Art Studios... should have got him when he was still around... PM me if you've got one you are willing to part with it.
love it already!
definitely impressed with the illusion of a full raven on the leviathan... don't think I've ever seen that before! Excellent rust effects as well!
lovin your progress with the painting after not painting for so long! I gotta do that myself!
Like I said, truly astounding work, sir. I always admire your work! :D
Man the finish you achieve on your painting is astounding, especially since you're using reaper paints!! Totally jealous! That's just multiple layers of thinned down paint right?
Not to be a downer or anything, but I wouldn't count on it..got one of my smaller orders that was had an item refunded..Haven't gotten my large order yet, so I guess we'll see.
Love the light and dark areas of the cave floor.. can definitely picture a beam of light coming from the top!
I know it's been said already, but the rust and verdigris really are stunningly well done!
Straight up modeling genius going on over here! I applaud your skill!
Still not sure how painting like this is even possible...
Damnit David stop showing us awesome new models to buy!! I can't afford this shit anymore!!! lol :D
unbelievably amazing!!
got my order last night...very quickly too I might add, with no problems..so that's a relief :)
thanks fluisterwoud..much of their stuff is out of stock though..hopefully CMON's inventory is correct...
ah damn... and I just put in an order....where would you recommend getting the dark age bases then?
When I went to World Expo in Chicago earlier this summer I met the developers behind Scale75 and the North American vendor...let's just say I ended up buying pretty much the rest of the paint sets I...
Not sure what happened to the Dark Age CORE line, but I'm interested in buying the Lightbringer (1st pic) and the Raptr-7 (2) (2nd pic) sets new...or, if anyone can point me in the right direction of...
well, there were horrible mold lines, missing details, many details were not crisp, and there are actual gouges in certain areas of the model (arms/claws)... first time I ever saw anything like that....
I bought Azrat sometime ago... one of the worst quality copies of a mini I have ever gotten..a bit weary of these minis now
Makes perfect sense..the base has just enough on it to describe the environment and does not distract from the miniature at all. In terms of composition (in addition to everything else) you're solid!
Looks great! I love the expression on his face..almost like a curious child lol :)
Just out of curiosity, is there a reason the base is so sparse in vegetation?
Posted my wolf in gallery. Thanks for all the input and kind words :)
I know right!?!?
HAHAH! Awesome! such a small world! My older brother was class of '86 at Clark Magnet! Glendale/Montrose is definitely a different place... not the quite suburb it used to be. That paint job on the...
any news on the availability of these models yet?
Hey FT,
As a basing enthusiast, I really like your work! A tip for the envirotex that I learned from a ReaperCon convention... to block the "water" you can use clear packing tape..holds shape and...
@ ten ball: Thank you sir! Hope to get to your level of greatness one day! :D
@BAM: Thanks BAM! It was definitely a motivator! Pew Pew is coming along :) finally finishing up the semester with...
Superb as always!! Great advice too! When I went to World Expo, I met with Ben Komets and he gave me a nice critique on my piece..that in and of itself is valuable!
Wow..it's been a long time since I've posted anything...school is keeping me REALLY busy... and I was at World Expo in Chicago in July...I gotta say there are some unbelievably talented artists out...
I think you're on to something there! I really gotta start learning about color theory, because I tend to just use dark or lighter versions of the same color I'm using for highlights and shadows......
Hey David! Gotta ask man... how do you get your reaper paints to not look so flat when you paint with them? I use them too, but they always turn out chalky.. does that usually happen if they're...
@ Maenas: Thanks! All I had to do for the grot to fit was cut off his legs and reposition the end of his bandanna, and viola! Like you said, it fit perfectly!
@ Clarke: Thanks! I should get a good...
I might as well start sharing some of the pictures of my second project for the World Expo competition.. a converted grot tank... one of the most adorable models in the Grim Darkness of the Far...
Somewhat better pictures...iPhone cameras are amazing!
58205 58206
Thanks all :D I really do have to figure out how to take better pictures of my minis...
Geez man! now you're sculpting!?! Is there anything you can't do!?! :)
Well, I can't believe it, but after almost three years of not finishing a single project I've started, I finally got one done! This is the more or less completed version of my wolf entry for world...
I don't even understand it at a rudimentary level lol...
Seriously...I wish I knew how to paint like this... I would love to paint some of my Ilyad minis with this NMM color scheme! Superb work, sir, superb!!
Hey everyone... I could use some help...I can't really figure out how to paint my wolf.. his fur is supposed to be predominately black with some brown. I'm not really sure how to start it and...
I like the Venatrix model too, but the pose (especially below the waist) seems a bit unnatural/unbalanced for firing an arrow while running on a tree.
Well on my search I didn't find what was looking for per se, but I did find this from Kimera models (off of el greco miniatures website)... and holy molly!! what a model!! Not sure why no shoes, but...
Thanks David! Lots of good info! The Andrea minis look pretty good!
THE KNIGHT THE KNIGHT THE KNIGHT!!!!! You can replace the raven thing with ANTLERS!! Like Bretonnia vs Beastmen!!!! (warhammer fantasy) I may even opt for replacing the mace with a shield...
...
I think I see what you're seeing :) I need to build up some snow at the top right against the tall rocks right?
Well thank you! That helps visualize the suggestions a lot better! I definitely like it darker at the base of the rocks. Looks like I have some work to do tonight! Hopefully I'll have pictures of...
Pure artistic talent sir, pure artistic talent... I dub thee the NMM KING!! :worship!:
Well thank you! If the piece captured a cold atmosphere, then I think it worked out! Thanks!
Wow those are some beautiful bases... if only mine looked like those lol
And I agree with you MAXXxxx...If I darken the bases of the rocks on the ground it should look a little colder..thanks for...
Agreed..those are supposed to be ice chunks..I reviewed the tutorial on how to do them and have to DB white over them again..
I was hoping for less cloudy/dark water, but I think I ended up putting too much tint in the mixture.. As for the stones, I think that might make it a little more bleak, so I'll give it a shot! :)...
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I like your idea SaintToad :) Are you thinking I should add some more against the rocks/trees?
So I've been working on a couple things for World Expo in July... I'm finishing up the base for my wolf... let me know what you think..I'm not too happy with the snow..I'll try to smooth it out...
Just followed that link... AND WOW FORGEWORLD IS GONNA TAKE A LOT OF MY MONEY LOL!! Some of those new models are amazing! Like that dragon!!!
Genius piece sir! The tree is looking pretty realistic too. Are you thinking a desert scene? The contrast would be quite striking! Here's an example of someone else's rendition. I think I like your...
Great! Thank you sir! I kinda figured that's what you did, so I gotta try that next time to get better blends between the mid tone, shadow, and highlight. I'm assuming you base coated with the mid...
Hey David,
On that picture with the color gradients, what colors did you use to go lighter and darker? I'm assuming both the light and dark shades started with the same midtone right? Thanks!
@ Guawol: That's what I'm hoping for! :) From the few times I've been in snow storms, I remember everything getting really muted and peacefully quiet.. Love the snow!
@ SaintToad: that's the plan...
Will be praying for you and yours Tommie, for a quick recovery and a long, cancer free life :)
Got some painting done this weekend... not too fond of it, but then again, I don't think it's too bad considering I haven't really finished anything in almost 2 years... hopefully everything will pop...
Great... as if I needed more models to buy... That cyborg dragon is a must have! Waiting with anticipation!
Put me down for Xanazar - population control model, Zhaedrass, Uhr'atesh, and Ash'nareth...
Superb article...I'll probably never be able to do it, but hey, one must try!
So I'm trying to catch up on some projects before the next semester of school starts, and I've made some progress on my wolf... I could use some pointers on how to color the trees.. I'm going for a...
Just felt like sharing, but look what I got! IT'S GIGANTIC!!! I swear Polish companies have the coolest stuff!!

Yours will look better without a doubt!
That looks awesome! Levels beyond my own "skills" lol
hmm..looks a lot like my Blast Off WIP... :)
Damnit David... why did you have to share the Valkiria Miniatures link... I don't need to buy more stuff I can't paint! lol NOW I HAVE TO BUY THIS!!! IT'S 170mm TALL!!! WTF!?!?!?

Always good to find something to bond over :)
I usually listen to music or the audio Bible (It's amazing how listening to epic stuff inspires creativity!! :D)
I hear ya! I'm the same way..I haven't finished painting anything in probably 2 years lol... my idea for the wind elemental is to paint him like a thunder cloud (grays and purples) and I'm gonna...
