Wrench guy on the buggy is my favorite!
So do you use the black ink over flat black, or over a dark gray?
And what is your secret to gun barrels you alluded to earlier?
(Sorry for the noob questions...)
Definitely keep posting! I love seeing the mix of “old lead” and the newest models.
Judging from your NMM on the armor, I think you clearly have the skills to rock the weapon!
It’s exciting to watch this project evolve! What was the black ink you found?
Your work is inspiring! I can’t imagine what you are going through, but I’ll try to send some good vibes your way...
Incredible! Would love to see all of the primarchs in a group shot someday!
Ultimately it’s up to you, but because there is so much 40K background/lore, some color schemes have “meaning” to die-hard enthusiasts. As MAXXxxx mentioned, it might help to know what army or colors...
The Omnissiah may not approve of poorly maintained machinery, but you guys are right, they would look better with some rust. Hmm, will see what I can do...
Graishak, thanks! I checked out your...
I totally agree, those Malifaux models really demonstrate how much "scale creep" there's been (mostly thanks to Games Workshop)!
Actually I really like the wrench as is. Stands out and for some reason puts a smile on my face!
(Wow, you're at 500 pages? Impressive!)
Nice work! Did you finish the woman with the shield?
These are amazing! I'd love to see a "group shot" of your creations!
Such beautiful painting! Would make a great 2-D image, so hard for me to wrap my head around it being a 3-D object!
I'm afraid that my "process" = "Space Marine Casualties", an OOP set of three wounded/dead space marines. I stuck him on a sculpted base and added a right arm (power sword), but otherwise can't take...
Put a space marine casualty on a dreadnought base. Might use it as an objective marker.
73773
And randomly painted up an old Chainmail mini (Spitting Felldrake). Felldrakes don't have wings, so I...
I need to embrace your philosophy. Also turning 50 in a couple of months.
Medium quality? I think those SMs look awesome!!
Wow! I think this is better than the "real thing". Proportions are better and overall this is just cooler looking. So exciting to watch the progress!
I really liked the splashing water effect. Hope you follow through on the rubber ducky idea! You are amazingly productive!
Thanks! I used a little sand and gravel, a little Agrellan Earth (for the crackle effect), leaving some of the base bare. Used a red-brown in patches, then washed the whole thing with Agrax...
As usual, got distracted and tackled other unfinished models that were crying out for attention:
73510
Here are the (almost) completed Sicarian Ruststalkers:
73511
Decals (with Micro Sol and Micro Set). Wouldn't have the freehand skills to pull them off otherwise!
Really fascinating to see the sculpt evolve!
Are all Infinity minis metal? Very cool sculpts and nice paint jobs!
Big difference in the goblin! How far apart are the two paint jobs?
Very nice work. Looking forward to seeing how they look after you're done with the basing.
Very cool style! To me the casings are a bit large and too perfectly distributed, but those are really trivial nitpick. I admire your boldness!
Just re-discovered this thread. Amazing! Really mind blowing!
Trying out blue/purple. I like it! Still need to highlight and do the claws...
73069
Also took photo of dreadnought to post.
73070
I also liked the first version of the “gore”. How was that done?
@DaBeebs - If you're wondering if I started painting the genestealers yet, the answer is no. Lol!
I sort of got distracted by creating a genestealer cult kill team around the old minis:
72643
...
Astounding! Beyond imagination!
On closer inspection I was impressed with how clean your painting is. The ork faces are fantastic! It looks like you edge highlighted with pink? Maybe try red-orange instead?
Excellent final touches!
I have a fondness for "old lead" from back in the day. Here's one of the first edition 'stealers next to a more modern one (Space Hulk fourth ed).
72210
The first two versions have slotted...
The mummy is adorable!
Monochromatic works here. Creates a melancholy feeling. What paint did you use for the blood? I feel like if it was running off the platform, the stains would go all the way to the bottom edge of the...
So scary! I love it!
Impressive output! They look great en masse!
I'm loving GSC too, though mine are skulking around underground! Looking forward to seeing your off roaders!
She has a better eye for color than I do!
Getting intrigued by genestealer cults, so picked up some old genestealers off of eBay. Tried nail polish remover first...
72198
Only so-so results, so tried lacquer thinner instead, which was...
Thanks gorb! Just saw your SM sculpts and Fire Raptor build. Amazing!
The terrain looks amazing. I hope you'll post a picture of it "in action".
Sometimes it's OK for cloth to actually be opaque! ;)
The space marine is really impressive. Who/what is that model?
Watching your project evolve is really fascinating. Thanks for posting all of the step-by-step pictures!
I can't even finish a kill team, so I'm amazed at your productivity! Looking great (and chaotic)! Kudos!
That is so cool! Can't believe how great the scratch-built marines look! (We'll have to make sure that GW doesn't find out!!!)
That castle is going to be amazing! And huge it sounds like!
I look forward to what you do with the entire set!
Really amazing work. You've really given both models a tremendous amount of personality!
Thanks KB and DB! I am still trying to wrap my head around color theory applications. Will keep trying!
Group shot...
72070
Finally finished up these genestealers! Didn't go with pink or orange highlights, but maybe will try next time. I thought the yellow would "pop" more than it did. (The Infestation of Drashin pitted...
Wow! So much goodness on that last page of posts. How many simultaneous projects do you have going at any one time?
Great expression! She's even got earrings, wow! Watching the process is fascinating!
I have never seen anything like that on the back of any space marine, so I guess you have free rein to interpret it as you wish. Looking great so far!
You have a healthy attitude toward CMoN. Kudos!
The bird is reflected on the bell!?! Mind. Blown.
So gorgeous! Love the way you handled the burning sword. I wonder if you considered giving the barrel of the flamer heat staining... Maybe he hasn't used it yet... :D
Was just quickly scrolling through and my eye was caught by your barrel! So good!!! (Not that the rest of your work isn't excellent, but somehow that bullet ridden rusty barrel just looked perfect!)
My level of painting is below yours, so I have nothing to suggest re: painting technique. But I wonder if your photography would benefit from (1) having a solid background (larger single piece of...
As a mediocre painter, I don't know whether it is encouraging or discouraging to see such a talented artist unhappy with such amazing work! But you gotta do what you gotta do...
Thanks for the support DanielSan and BaM!
I am working on the claws, going for red-purple instead of the blue-purple of the carapace. I also tried stippling the green on the tongue for the "acid...
I'm always impressed by those who are disciplined enough to crank through a large number of minis and make them look good!!!
Hey, not fair! When do we get a skin update here? :P
So beautifully disgusting!
The shiny metal effect is definitely working on the leg! The eagle NMM was harder to appreciate because of the yellow braid on top of it. I salute your ambition!!!
Voted. Love the red arms! Great ethereal effect with the cloaks!
That's NMM on the bust? That's really jaw-dropping!
In progress...

Here's a photo of an original Space Hulk genestealer with a primed modified genestealer (right limbs replaced/repositioned).
71325
My middle school age son painted this hormagaunt with a gray...
Thanks! The texture happened by accident honestly. The primer was grainy, so I think the dry brushing picked up the texture. (I used a blue glaze to offset the chalkiness.)
Hope to be a little...
Astounding and inspirational!
Well, I'm apparently one of those unreliable hobbyists who pop up then disappear unpredictably!
I recently worked on some Warhammer 40K minis after Kill Team came out. Here are some space marines...
Looks good to me! Are you using an airbrush or blending by hand? Either way, good stuff! (Too bad there's so little activity on this board!)
Nice! I have a fondness for Mithril miniatures. Look forward to seeing what you do with him!
Excellent! Thanks, Webmonkey!
@ khavor - Is that the Huntress? Whoever she is, she looks good!
@Webmonkey - I'm just getting started but am OK with either deadline. :)
The masses have spoken! :)
Great work! His right foot sort of blends into the sentinel gem though, so maybe the cracks are a good idea!
Don't get your expectations up too high. ;)
Trying to decide between painting her up as Batgirl or Wonder Woman ...

Back after a major transition ... Monique de Noir primed and ready to paint ...
50805
That TMNT diorama is too much! And did I see a Saga shout out on one of the WIP?
Primed and ready to get rolling ...

I'd like to join too! Late to the party, but I have a good excuse ... we moved, and all of my stuff is still packed up in boxes!

Yay! Even better! :D
I see what you did there ... ;)
"pew pew" is like cowbell, you can always use more!
I love your ultra-clean and bold style! Thank you for the SBS. Very inspirational!
Keeps getting more and more impressive!
I agree 100%. Hard to believe you achieved that level of detail on a 25/28mm face. And thanks for the SBS on the black armor. You made it look easy (which it obviously isn't)!
Looks lovely! I'm amazed by the level of detail at that scale!
Well, bad things come in threes, so you should be clear of infections and parasites for a while. Happy Easter!
She looks great in "mid-air"! I wonder if you could pin her body to the troll's hand, as though it caught her in mid-leap?
I might be up to the challenge of sculpting and painting a red letter "L" ...
The sbs of the rocks/water was awesome. Next time, how about a sbs for the skin as well? :)
And just to avoid confusion, that's Nightcrawler on the right side of the cover, not a web-monkey. :)
You've never heard of Dazzler?
47533
Good luck! Amazing work!
Wow! When I paint my minis, my "backstory" is just me moving the minis around while I mutter "pew-pew". You've taken it to a whole new level! :D
The glow on the hand looks awesome! Based on where he is holding his sword, I feel like maybe there wouldn't be as much reflection on the front of his sleeve, but maybe the back edge of the vest's...
Future competition: sculpt and/or paint "yourself" (based on forum nickname)! ;)
@Zab - I will. And I will. ;)
@bcgd - Thanks for the advice. I will try it out, though it is really hard to wrap my head around the idea of using red to shade green, etc. :D
Like a phoenix from the ashes! Cool stuff!
@YetiSA - Thanks! Alas, it appears that my painting skills are decreasing over time, based on the scores, since the golem was painted many years ago. :p
@Digganob - Since painting two simultaneous...
What? Only SIX MONTHS!?!
OK, I quit too ... :p
Thanks Maenas! I appreciate it!
Looking forward to your close ups. The freehand on his shoulder looks amazing even at this distance!
That's impressive both from a number of projects point of view and in terms of how varied your painting techniques are. Very cool!
I think you are being too modest. That model is way more than "okay". :)
That seems pretty fast actually for that level of precision and detail. I look forward to watching your progress. :)
Don't ask me; I'm learning from you! :p I'm still struggling with shadows and excessive glare. I was impressed that your cyborg seemed to be so evenly illuminated!
Oh, awesome! I would totally buy this mini. I am OK with the base. Simple and sort of old-school. Can always static grass it if one wants.
My only nitpick would be that I wish the book was...
Ridiculously good. She's got a great booty! ;)
They are all incredible, but I think I like the octopus rider the best!
Very impressive! Just out of curiosity, how long does each section take you to paint to this standard?
Not that anyone asked, but here are my comments and criticisms ... Hope I don't offend anyone. :)
Group A
Sicks: Great skin tones and basing! Maybe her hair looks a little too similar to the...
Thanks all! I guess I will have to work on not giving a damn while painting. :)
Abyssal maw: http://www.coolminiornot.com/395300
I cannot even wrap my brain around what I am seeing at that scale ...
So, is this round of voting sort of like the Democratic and Republican primaries, where each party nominates a candidate and then we have a general election to determine the winner between the two?
Touched up the abyssal maw. What was originally supposed to be a "practice" mini for the gray and purple color scheme ended up looking surprisingly good!
47327
Maybe the red of the knee pads is too close to the skin color? To be honest, until KB mentioned it, I didn't even realize those weren't his actual kneecaps.
I don't know that I've ever seen that white/green effect (on pretty boy) before. Really stunning!
Geez, that's incredible! Tons of character!
I like the leather effect. I agree that the purple rocks!
Gracias! :)
Can't argue with the votes, the leading minis are all excellent.
Sicks, my wife was really impressed with your mini. Would have given you another vote, but not allowed obviously. :)
Seeker of Slaanesh is up for voting and/or comments: http://www.coolminiornot.com/395158. Thanks!
OK, fine. If no one is going to vote for me in the poll, at least throw my mini some votes and/or comments. :)
http://www.coolminiornot.com/395158
Fair enough. That makes sense. Let me add my thanks to the others' for putting this together for us!
That's pretty good for $2! That pic is with just one light source?
The evolution of the octopus over the past several photos is really amazing!!!
I would go with a regular arrowhead. Somehow I would have expected him to be aiming higher if he was shooting a flaming arrow. Boxing glove arrow comes in a close second however. :D
Very impressive conversion! Seems like you could have sculpted the whole thing from scratch. :)
Not any more. ;)
I like the idea of heroes and villains! Why so far away (June/July)? Let's aim for April! :p
This was so fun (and motivating)! When is the next one? ;)
Put together a montage using better lighting (daylight) ...
47222
The daylight bulb almost makes the cloth look like gold lamé. Interesting effect!
That would be hilarious (if she were taking a selfie)! Maybe you can magnetize interchangeable items (e.g., book, cell phone, hair dryer, cards for poker, Yorick's skull ...)? :D
I might suggest bringing the red-brown color from the body up into the spines of its crest. The webbing looks cool, but right now it sort of looks like it's on fire.
Looking really good. I am impressed by your mastery of static grass! What's your secret?
WOW! That is going to be awesome.
Thanks for the step-by-step pics! Would like to see your lightbox set up. I also need to get familiar with this color theory stuff ...
Just finished posting, so Group A is COMPLETE!
High fives all around! :D
Whew! Snuck it in just before the deadline ...
Dr. Bob/Seeker of Slaanesh

Thanks for the encouragement Maenas and BASm! Managed to finish painting before midnight (EDT), but just realized that taking photos at night is a lot harder than taking them during the day! Overall,...
Almost finished ...
47145
Thanks KB! The colors came out better than I expected to be honest.
Almost finished ...
47144
Impressive stuff! I look forward to seeing how the minis look on their bases. :)
Are you an early riser? <quickly factoring in difference between east and west coast time ...> ;)
For us in the US, the line was, "Fly, you fools!" That will help. I vow to paint quickly! :D
Looks like I'll be taking it down to the wire. Is CMON on Greenwich Mean Time, Eastern Daylight Time, Pacific Daylight Time or what? :p
Unexpectedly, my abyssal maw is coming out a lot better than...
Decent progress tonight. Have to admit that the abyssal maw is looking better than the daemonette. Wondering if I should do a last minute switch for the Flesh Faire ...
47082
The commissar looks great. Your "experimental" painting came out really well. I like the subdued greens and browns.
Although it turns out that we are Flesh Faire competitors, I have to say that is a nice barbarian! I like how he decided to charge the camera at the end. :)
Geez! That is some impressive speed painting! Thanks for sharing your tips and false starts. Very helpful!
Looks great! The eyes look good, and I'm very impressed by the veins under her skin. Kudos!
Is there an award for biggest procrastinator? I just started painting. (The daemonette will be my entry. The abyssal maw is just along for the ride ...)
47052
Down to the wire ... At least have some paint on the daemonette. Decided to paint the abyssal maw simultaneously (same colors essentially).
47051
I'm still in, but have to admit, judging from the posted pictures, that I seem to be way out of my league! :)
Looking good to me, but I'm wondering about the pupils of her eyes. When looking sideways, the irises (colored part of her eyes) move into the corners, but the pupils (black spots) should still be...
Finally got a chance to prime some minis. Got to get moving on the daemonette ...
46412
I'm still in too! Have to confess that I only just primed the mini (now that the weather warmed up a bit here). Building momentum you might say ...
Looks really good to me, especially for a first model. I like the oxidation effect and the glowing eyes! Maybe you could shade/ink the mouth a bit more?
This advice is super helpful. I'm also thinking about taking the plunge, and Zab's recommendations seem spot on ...
<shivering> So gross, yet so cool!
So cool! Love the sculpted individual feathers! What are you using for the "frame" for the wings?
Oops! Got distracted and put together this mystery mini I found in my bitz box ...
4588245881
Turns out to be an Abyssal Maw from WOTC/Chainmail. So cute!!! (Thanks for the quick ID...
Wow! Would love to see it as a sci-fi Game of Thrones ...
You are too kind, sir! Looking forward to seeing your minis once they are painted.
You should do both simultaneously! :D (Pretty sure there was a gray Hulk at some point ...)
Welcome! My family and I had a chance to visit Vienna and Salzburg recently. Austria is a very beautiful country!
Welcome! I love comics too, so we have two interests in common it seems. :)
My starting point:
45849
No part of this daemonette was stuck to any part of my body at any time. :p
A Lazarus TV show? That would be pretty awesome! Someone should make a Forever mini! ;)
Great photography! Looks like a Frazetta painting!
Wow, really great! Gore level is just right. :D They look like they are ready for some mead!
Geez, you're already blowing me away, and the Flesh Faire hasn't even started! May need to rethink project ... :D
:D
At least it's not a "World Series"!
That is awesome! Grazie mille!
Looking for help identifying this mini! I think it's a xorn (from D&D), but I can't match it to any other xorn pictures online ...
4572245723
Looks pretty cool! Nice detailing on the back of the shield and on his face. The stitches across his lips are creepy!
What the heck? How is that even possible? :D
You are really great at faces! Very impressive!
Whoa! Did NOT see that coming! Very cool mount. :D
Nice work! I like their backsides in particular!
Wow! The Tau look great! Love the hex pattern on their armor.
The nose looks fine. Wouldn't have known anything was amiss if you hadn't told us!
You might like Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples. Low by Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini is also quite good.
Though perhaps "mainstream", the recent run of Thor: God of Thunder drawn by...
Looks brutal! :D
Looks great! I like the stippled texture on the cloak!
Crazy cool! So many techniques in such a short video!
Nothing wrong with cracked sandstone though. :D
Uh oh. Starting to feel the urge to purchase one (airbrush/compressor) ...
I am amazed by both your speed of painting and the quality of your finished product. Wow!
So cool. Love Darth Vader's pose. Where did the wookies go?
Creative design on the shoulder pad! Who/what is the bust?
I signed up for The Flesh Faire. Excited to participate!
I think this old Seeker of Slaanesh is probably the least dressed mini I've got:

I used part of a paper clip to create a...
I see it, now that you mentioned it. Very nice!
(By the way, Maenas, I was just in Barcelona a few months ago. What a beautiful city!)
Really fascinating! I am eagerly awaiting your next updates!
Great atmosphere. Deceptively "simple".
