I would say that both techniques (Photoshop and painting) are far away from one another in terms of 'feeling'. Someone who does good Photoshop image has the advantage of understanding basic concepts...
So many and it is just paint (oil and acrylics combined), not counting the soft pastel sticks, felt pens, inks and pigments. Need to use them more... :mad-tongue:
Love the animosity orcs! Very well done! :smile-big:
It's a really nice base! Sometimes being pressed forward helps to get the best out of oneself! Now, you just have to figure out which mini to add to it! ;)
Here are some amongst my oldest fantasy minis. Depending on the company making them the size difference is quite noticeable (especially the leftmost knight). If I recall well, they are from the...

It is mostly the trees that are superb! Good link for inspiration! Thanks!:cute:
Well, for bones and skulls, you can add up yellow to your range of colors. Bones can have many colors, from fresh gory ones with blood to the sun-bleached white bone. However, most bones would be a...
Your project gave me back some old memories of when I have build this ship a (very, very) long time ago. Sadly the finished model took a bad crash when I moved from town. It was a sad day then...
Oh my! It is wow! This conversion is really good, you can feel it running to rend and tear its enemies! Super nice! :claply::claply::claply:

Thanks Atacam, I had these pictures on my hard drive for a long time, I posted this as a remembrance of when Rackham was in full steam ahead mode!
Thank you S.!
I had talked a few minutes with Sean Green back then (he seemed a bit lost in a sea of french-language), a really nice guy! He gave me some tricks on how to achieve a...
Oh! Thank you Chern! I suspected that there was to be a check up somewhere along the line.

Hi!
I am quite stuck, I just finished an article and would like to publish it. For now I can see it, but I have a 'not published' written in red beside my name under the title. The FAQ of the...
Really nice sea water with its varied hues and foamy crests. You gave a feeling of depth to the water which is quite good! :highfive:
For the sub, may be 'wet' it more? It seems quite dry for...
The trick I use when the paint is settled and really not cooperating with shaking is a long steel carpet needle to break the mass at the bottom of the bottle, just be careful to not go through the...

Hi!
Well most armies have shooting capacity with the exception of chaos warriors and demons, the skaven have some shooting abilities but they are more short range. For these armies magic is the main...
Wow! Really nice and with crisp details on those ships. I especially love the color scheme used on your water, the waves are sharp and neat and they make the ship stand out from the base.
It was just pure luck, I checked the website store regularly and wow, a restock. I ordered right away, thought the wallet got thinned down a bit! but it was very well worth it!
Yeah! This time I got my hands on the necromancers! Thanks!
If you have enough money go for a Foredom drill, it is used in jewelry and small wood, metal and stone carving. It has variable speed (foot pedal or dial controler) and a handle that can take the...
Really nice looking giant and right in line for Nurgle. Very original! Good work!
It was the number that was put on the stock number last week when they came out, (unless I am sorely confused:confused2:). I told myself that I had time to get them a bit later, but I was mistaken,...
I can't believe it! Today (Jan 30th), all the 82 boxes were sold! Is there a plan to get more in store?:nailbiting:
Superb Cassar! It is a great build and quite big too! Congratulations for the 'baby'!
Hi boubi!
Here is a link for the JBT DVD, the site is mostly in French:

Have fun!
I also use stuff from the lab I worked in. But I had no qualms about it because most things were used once and discarded to avoid contamination, so I picked up a lot of small plastic containers,...
Wow! After viewing the whole thread, I can say that this sculpt is going to be outstanding and it is so big! That will be a great challenge for you to paint this one, detailing will be quite a job!
...
There is also the color itself that sometimes do not kindly goes towards the right chroma range. This is highly dependent upon the mixes of pigments in the paint, some color will change to a duller,...
I was DMing a AD&D game (2nd edition) where I had an evil halfling cavalier and his 'good' friend a necromancer. They went to see the master of the necromancer, a powerful necromancer (me as a DM) in...
Really nice! Love the rust work and old age you gave this diorama ! Very good work!
I did some experiments with pigments and they do quite some superb effects just like Kath has shown in her tutorial. I even tried to make my own paint color with acrylic and oil mediums and it works...
Like freak said above, a good chair is really a must. Ventilation to get fumes out is also a good investment! If you can have a small sink and running water it would be quite useful (how far do you...
Yeah Dogfacedboy! It too still draw me a smile everytime I look at it! It is good for the morale and I keep the hope that I would not get that low in martial arts!:fingers-crossed:

Wow! It looks absolutely superb on a large screen! Bravo!:glasses-cool:
I have seen a few of these caterpillars and at their size they are quite voracious! I have tried a recipe a few years ago and it seemed to work on the rose bushes and other flower plants. Take any...
As for me I use Testor's Model Master flat white enamel paint, the pot has about 1/2 oz capacity and it is good for quite a few minis but you need a solvent to clean the brushes. I use it mainly in...
Yeah! They're back!!! One of the best news ever!
Ouch! that is a hard landing. If you are willing to try greenstuff you would need first to make some space for the future spine i.e. dig a little at where the old spines were so that you have a kind...
It is quite a nice start! I also like the muscle side of the back legs, the contrasts are good. :glasses-cool:
For the mouth, the gum color is quite nice, may be the black shade at the base of the...
Oh! quite nice. I have seen the CG model on ZBrush site. There are quite a few that I would like to have 'printed' there. Like DFB and Supervike I would also repaint it. Hope they would think to...
About 1-2% finished painting for me, those started about a bit less than 1% (still on the painting bench). But for those that need built up about 90%, primed and ready to paint about 98% (keeping in...
A consistancy that I like is a very smooth cream, not milky, the amount of thinning agent used is a bit different from one color to the next. When you lift your brush from the paint, it should not...
Just downloaded the plan with the link you gave...OMG... that is an insanely complicated paper model! Kudos to you for making it, it is awesome! Keep up the good work!
There is also some good looking skeletal horses from RAFM; the Death Wind Hussars, the Reaper Cavalry and the Death Knight horsemen, they are a bit costly (about 7US$ for a pair) but could be used...
Hi!
There are a few things that you would need to know and are important (been doing oils on minis for a good while...). Some colors dry faster than others. The browns do dry fast (within a few...
To help out keep paint from drying I use a few tricks:
First one is, like mentionned above, check the bottles to see if drying up has started; if the paint starts to get thicker to downright gooey,...
