How about every top 100 hit for the last 50 years? And yes, I calculated that. Figure you could do it if you really tried.

Oh dear. I\'ve just set a goal for myself. :drunk:

For some good music that isn\'t entirely recognized to the extent of most other artists on the list...

Against Me! - Go for their older material if you want more raw punk, their new album is essentially a snapshot of their selling-out.

    Biffy Clyro

Incubus - Their first few albums were funk/metal/jazz, then they went hard/alternative, and they\'ve incorporated pop elements on their latest album.

Matthew Good Band - Underrated outside of Canada, hell, even in Canada.

    Some lesser known ones:

    Zeromancer
    Razed in Black
    Einstuerzende Neubauten
    Two
    :Wumpscut:
    Death From Above 1979
    Apoptygma Berzerk
    Wolfsheim
    l\'ame Mortal
    Tapping the Vein

Sure I could come up with a ton more. If you can get your hands on the Club Bizarre albums they are an amazing mix of EBM, Industrial, Synthpop and Gothic.

Definately have to second Apocalyptica, you don\'t see them on too many peoples list and that\'s an oversight.

If you are not into that scene then some Johnny Cash and Stompin Tom Conners :D

If you like Pink Floyd and love heavy rock, I heavily suggest a band called Porcupine Tree, Some Songs to listen to would be \'Lazarus\', \'Blackest eyes\' and \'Halo\'.
Erm, most others have said bands I like but I\'ll add with some classic bands like AC/DC, Eric Clapton, Thin Lizzy and Dire Straits.
And jesus, no one said about The Rolling Stones, no ipods complete with out them.
